I think we should balance the budget. Obama would be smart to say the Republicans are right, let's balance the budget and he is willing to look at cuts across the board. He needs to put it on them to start figuring out how to do it. One way for example would be: Eliminate Medicare and Medicaid Eliminate all Military spending That would balance the budget. Of course that won't happen. To balance the budget, we'd need to cut 30% across the board. Can anyone see that happening? Even 10%?
I didn't inject race into it -- you did. If you noticed, I also made fun of Chris Dudley's free throw shooting in the Oregon governor's race. (Oops, I mean "election" lest you think I'm injected race into the equation again.)
Aren't we sensitive!?! I just wish he were smart enough to use it -- he is so lost without the magic teleprompter with which he reads remarks written by whoever is pulling the puppet strings.
Couldn't be more wrong. I guess you didn't see the exchange with Republicans which they asked the questions and he was able to silence them. They were questions asked by the GOP, There was no teleprompter in sight. It happened back in January and there are videos of it everywhere. In fact time and time again he's done remarkably well off the cuff, and is very knowledgeable about the issues. It's sad that rather than look at the evidence you choose to just believe the hype.
The part about Pgabs I left alone. He's capable of answering for himself very nicely. I only mentioned the part about Obama.
he is smart enough to use it, that's the problem. people want common sense answers to complicated problems
10% across the board is what they should be demanding. It is at least within the realm of possibility.
Two years ago I would not have challenged that idle daydream. Now the nation knows he is not even as smart as Bush the Younger -- and certainly doesn't have the administrative skills to run the Presidency.
obama came in accomplished the largest piece of legislation in the last 40 years, you may not agree with it but I wouldn't doubt his admin skills. also, bush came in with incredible goodwill a good economy and internal and global goodwill after 9-11. the way he squandered it is epic and to compare him to obama is laughable at best.
True. Even considering Bush's missteps in the Iraq War, Obama has been far more disastrous -- short and long term -- for the nation.
In that interview Rand Paul says he plans to be on the budget committee and introduce a balanced budget, so we'll see. The entire budgeting process is insane, the idea that you can codify deficit spending into law is a recipe for ruin, but that's the way our system is set up. What we should do is project revenues and then apportion percentages of that revenue based on priorities. Rather than $XXX billion for Social Security, it should be XX% of the budget for Social Security.
