Politicians all go out of their way to demonize the opposition. It's politics. The political climate right now is especially conducive to such tactics, as well. I'll also note that I don't feel Obama was attacking the GOP/opposition as much before they began attacking him for ridiculous things (socialism, being from Kenya, etc.).
you did not listen to his inaugural address i take it, perhaps the most ungracious such speech in american history?
Why was Bush so divisive? What about asians? What about the african-american business community? What about women business leaders?
Quote it, if you don't mind. I'd love to see him attack an opposition unprovoked in his inaugural address or see what you're referring to (and I don't mean that sarcastically -- I encourage differing viewpoints and having as much information as possible).
this is why no one takes your hero threads seriously. its too beautiful a day down here in houston to be responding to this crap. good day sir
ithe whole thing, which was delivered as a not so oblique critique of his predecessor, who sat right behind him- much like his call out of the Supremes earlier this year.
You have no idea what you are talking about. As usual you're wrong and off base. Do you ever wonder why even conservatives on the board don't take anything you say seriously?
Your Bush love gets the better of you... We were (are) in a crisis and did (do) face challenges. Work needed (needs) to be done. The criticisms he makes are to the way of thinking about problems or adherence to ways that no longer make sense. I guess a Bush worshiper could say W is the face of those (but wouldn't it be admitting something you don't want to?) and so it was aimed at W, but I don't think that's the case. Every President, particularly when they're taking over from the other party talks about renewal and rejuvenation and change. You really need to just get over this. Also, read the first paragraph...
Well, even though this is a lie, if it were in fact not a lie, it would have been merited as he was following the man who was objectively the least popular, and subjectively among the very worst, president in American history - and will remain that way in the eyes of history.
rimrocker, You miss the real arrogance of the inaugural address if you just read the text... you should be watching the video... you know, the one where Obama was doing the "hand job" gesture every time he mentioned Bush's name... or back when he called out the Supreme Court and defecated on one of Clarence Thomas' best silk ties.
From Drudge... to Limbaugh... to Taranto... to basso. There are probably some intermediate steps in there somewhere... I would bet basso read it on some winger blog but linked to Taranto to seem more respectable... regardless, the origin of his anger is generally easily traceable.
so, i include a link to where i saw it, but apparently it's not the "right" link? **** it, from now on i'm just going to link to your post- call it rimmy's rule.
Taranto just offered the two quotes without comment. Drudge, Limbaugh and others put the racial component there... a component which you echoed in your OP.
