Then why does the kid grow up to have the father's last name, but not the mother's? The husband really should have a say in this abortion issue. After all, even the wife has to carry his last name. Women are just weak minded. That's why the man should step in and say, "Look we can raise the kid. No need for an abortion."

Uh, are you being sexist or, with all due respect, just ignorant? The wife does not have to "carry" the husband's name, nor does the child. I know several women who are married and kept their "maiden name." The choice of the last name of the child is up to the parents. If there isn't a man around, it is simply up to the mother. If they want, they can create a new last name for the child, like "Gary Smith-Jones," using the last names of the two parents.

Even if you're a single mom, raising a kid by yourself is not hard. My dad raised 4 children less than 10 years old by himself during the civil war in Vietnam. If a man could pull that off, why can't any woman in America do it, given the aid available?

If a couple is in a good relationship, they should at least attempt to raise the kid. This is USA, not some broke thirld world country. There are plenty of federal aid to help raise your kid that you didn't really expect. If your parents had aborted you, would you be sitting here talking about aborting another person?

I was referring to the post about how the child is the sole responsility of the woman. The choice of the child's last name is up to the parents?! So do you carry your mom's last name? How strange!

What about women who got knocked up in a one night stand? There's something called going to the doctor and get birth control pills the morning after. Hello? I think birth control pill is pretty modern stuff these days. And a right minded woman shouldn't be knocked up in a one night stand anyways. So the not so right minded woman should not have a right to get an abortion because her mind was not right to begin with. That is all.

 

Fatty, your post was the highlight of my day. While I'm not as up to speed on the Simpsons as some folks, like my kids, who would recognize any reference to the show, I'm a fan. All I can say is that there was a power outage and my fan didn't work.
