Obama made the error that led to congressional gridlock and the partial govt shutdown

To all you readers who are only casual followers of politics or unsure about the nature of the situation, read the statement above a couple times. It is very important for you to understand that the opinion you just read is not an outlier or an aberration. This is what Republicans actually believe. This is the level of pants-on-head-r****ded that American conservatism has sunk to, and this is the kind of thing others will assume you believe if you identify as a Republican. Choose wisely.

I think his main selling point in his presidential run was the whole "I'm not George Bush" aspect.

 

No, Obama was talking about "universal healthcare" as early as January of 2007.

To be fair to thumbs, he is actually a proud Tea Partier.....tho there doesnt appear to be much difference these days.

Also, I actually believe thumbs believes what he is typing....unlike certain "other" very active posters from the rightwing side of the spectrum....who post to incite.

 

Likewise. Unfortunately, his predictions aren't actually insightful in any way, and provide more of a "depressing comic relief" than anything of relative value.

 

That was true in 2008 but not as applicable in 2012. The electorate had a chance to judge an Obama Presidency that made health care its signature issue and reelected him.

 

But what about the GOP reps who ran on the signature issue of removing it?

 

They lied. They don't have the votes to remove it.

 

They didn't lie, they ran on doing whatever they could to off it or slow it down. Thats actually what they tried to do with the Govt Shutdown. They didn't give any garuntee's just that it was their number one goal. SO while all politicians do lie, they didn't lie in this situation.

 

The president was elected in a national election. Each rep was elected only within his district with fewer than a million citizens in it. And, his district has been politically homogenized to shore up one party's power or the other. And, voter turnout is always low in these elections compared to presidential elections. Why people think that this would be indicative of the public will is beyond me.

 

If they ran with the promise "If elected I WILL get rid of Obamacare!" they did lie since there is no logical way for for them to promise that, too many variables in the equation to make that sort of promise.

IF they said "If elected, I will do everything in my power to repeal Obamacare", then I agree that it isnt lying as long as they have done everything in their power.....and it hasnt worked, so quit holding the f****** government hostage and get back to work you bunch of callous thieving pricks.

 

If you promise something there's no way you can possibly deliver then you're lying. Second, they didn't run on a platform of shutting down government to stop Obamacare.
