Right on! I was thinking to myself just the other day... "Self," I said... "that man can sure give a good speech and as long as he can talk that way, my kids don't need to go to college and I can live off dog food when I retire." All my Obama supporting friends think this way as well.
The blame goes to the FED for lowering interest rates. The blame goes to the FED for lowering interest rates. The blame goes to the FED for lowering interest rates. Without the FED lowering interest rates, the boom wouldn't have played out like it did, and the economy would have been much more stable. And George Bush's tax cuts did next to nothing to either help or hurt the economy. And his deficit, while bad, wasn't that horrible as a percentage of GDP.
I know its difficult to tell the difference between saying "listening to these people you would think..." and "these people think..."
Hmmm. You're right, I see no significant difference. Please educate me and tell me what that difference is. Thanks.
Then you'll be pleased to learn that 70% of Obama's Kool Aid is all natural life sustaining nutrients.
Poor basso. He is still stuck in the early stages of major grief over the loss of his beloved Dubya ( I know he will probably refuse to admit he is one of the dwindling few who still claim to have supported hime). I am not too up on the stages of grief, but it appears that basso may still be in denial or perhaps has entered the bargaining stage. . Ok, he can start to accept that Obama won as long as he can claim that Obama will be unsuccesful and one termer like Carter, so his GOP can come back strong in 2012.
so when are we going to get this whole democracy thing right? are we ever going to get a president that is well liked again and does a good job. seriously
well maybe, maybe not. it was more of a rhetorical question. but in all seriousness what would obama have to do to make most everyone happy. he took control of a country that is practically in turmoil financially in so many ways. if for instance he took us out of this mess would he be well liked by most people (a majority) im not so sure.
Carter's approval rating on March 21, 1977 was 75%. According to Gallup, Obama's approval rating presently sits at 64%.
Damn, my 30 year HS reunion is next summer... I better start getting in shape. In all fairness, that Carter poll is before the Panama Canal, Iranian Revolution, the hostage crisis, the Chrysler bailout, and before stagflation had taken hold. The first two years of the Carter presidency were fairly normal, but starting with the Iranian Revolution in early in 1979, he had an incredible number of bad things hit him one after the other. 1979 pretty much sucked all the way through. Granted, some of it was his own doing, but look at a timeline for 1979 and you'll see what I mean. Obama comes into office with an incredible number of bad things weighing on the presidency and he's still at more than a decent approval rating. Oh, and I can't wait until 9-12 so we can hear the cons crow about how piddly Obama's approval rating is compared to what Bush's was 8 years earlier.
I thought Obama was rescuing us from Bush. I mean, republicans were given the reins to the country and they blew it. They had the court system, congress, state gov't, governers, and the POTUS...they had a lot of power, and they used that power to set up a free wheeling enterprise of abuse and poor decisions. They are not to completely to blame, dems did their part, as did the American citizen. But the Repubs LED us down this road. And they wonder why they have been swept out of power. Listen right wingers....you don't even have a leader to your party - it's split. You have infighting between cheney and powell, it's a mess. Moderates are fleeing, people are ashamed to be labeled a republican. Aren't you worried? I am. I don't think this country should be a one-party system. That's what Repubs have done, they gutted a good party and turned it into a poop flinging party.
before people even start comparing Obama's first 100 days to Carter's whole presidency, we should first compare and see who a was worse and left a bigger mess: bush or ford?
