Aren't MLK, JFK and Obama considered erudite orators of the highest order?

What other politicians since WW2 would you put in their class?

And MLK had his behind the scenes character flaws. I don't think Obama does. (though you bet your ass a former intern with claims will pop up in October)

yeah, seeking spiritual advice from racists, dealing with real estate criminals and smoking are all great virtues. Obama has all of these flaws

texxx: Obama smoked cigarettes! Not the kind of president I want to elect. Cocaine is okay, though.

Bobby Kennedy, for one. Obama has yet to reach the level of Jack, Bobby, or Dr. King with regards to his oration abilities, in my opinion. Not saying he won't get there, but he isn't there yet.

    Trim Bush.

MLK, JFK, RFK.....all threats to the Military-Industrial Complex......all the same fate....

Remains to be seen if Obama will really try and pull the US out of Iraq......I highly doubt it.....but it would be an interesting scenario to how it plays out...

So you're saying Obama can only be compared to other famous black people?

Not trying hard at all to fight your reputation as a racist, are you?

Actually I have seen media outlets draw a comparison between Obama and MLK. Both charismatic, both good speakers, both African-American. Add all of that in with the 40th anniversary of MLK's death, and it is just a comparison that will be made, like it or not.

It is sad and pathetic how liberals today try to pimp out MLK for political gain. They use him to rally the emotions of their black base and also the latte-sipping whites. Heck, you've also got some that politicized Coretta Scott King's death. I know Batman was swinging her coffin around for political points (calling her a libpig) just moments after her funeral. Sad and pathetic.

Obama is no MLK, that's for sure, although he does try to copy his speaking style (and Jeremiah Wright's style). So he's got Deval Patrick's words, MLK's style, and Marx's philosophy. what a combo....

And yet 70% of Americans believe he represents the values of America.

Aw, TJ wants his own ideological connection to the civil rights movement.

It would help if you wouldn't refer to a Presidential candidate as "Balack Hussein Obama".

    EXCUSE ME. EXCUSE ME.

I do not have an 'ideological connection' to the civil rights movement. I have a TANGIBLE connection. I have mentored young, at-risk black youth. I have worked side-by-side in black communities passing out information and food. I have traveled to Africa to pay homage to Nelson Mandela, to O.R. Tambo, to Hector Pieterson. Have you? These people were the real civil rights leaders. Not the pampered, whiny, spoiled products of the wealthiest nation on earth who don't know how well off they have it. Get some perspective.

And yet you still make fun of a black Presidential candidate for being black.

Yes, I have worked at the food bank, gotten up early many times to serve breakfast to the homeless (95% of whom are black, sadly) downtown, and done home repairs as a volunteer in a shockingly poor area of the Mississippi Delta. I've never been on vacation in Africa, though. Maybe one day when I'm more "well-off". And I've never called anyone "Balack Hussein Obama".

Unbelievable. So calling someone black, or half-black is 'insulting them because they are black'? Wow. Just unbelievable. This racial victim card playing is getting out of control.

You didn't call him black or half-black. You changed his name to mock his race.

Wow, I didn't realize they had such a narrow cohort. That means 2/3 (66%) of unemployed persons at Grand Central that deigned to talk to the NYTimes pollsters also think McCain shares the values of Americans. Dems clearly have work to do among the Grand Central unemployed to drive those McCain numbers down. That could swing the New York electoral votes.

(Note: I posted that poll to counter BT's attack on your buddy. It seems hard for me to believe that 70% of Americans would think that Obama shares their values when his support is so clearly limited to blacks who like him because he's half black and whites like Max who are consumed with guilt.)
