Yes, we saw the mindless “socialism” attacks in 1992 against Clinton when he was in a tight race against the first Bush. And look what happened when we elected that Socialist Clinton, a surplus and the greatest US economic expansion in decades.

I think Obama is going to be much more of a "Socialist" than Clinton. And Clinton didn't balance the budget by himself.

So are you saying McCain is going to make the tax system no longer progressive?

My point is Obama isn't Clinton, and he is not going to balance the budget, he is not even pretending he is going to. People keep bring up Clinton when arguing about Obama as if somehow voting Dem would somehow automatically bring back the Clinton days.

I can already see the excuses being made, just blame everything on Bush. This might work for a couple years, not 4.

No, that's why I'm saying McCain is going to be redistributing the wealth as well.

I think when talking about taxes they bring up Clinton because Obama's tax rates won't be different than they were under Clinton. It makes sense when talking about taxes.

We've done that for years, now. The Bush administration carried this torch, too...and has been commended for it by people from all over the political spectrum.

World poverty, for some, is also an issue of national security....to me it's an issue of, "i'm more concerned with human beings than lines in the sand."

So this subprime mess is because of irresponsible fiscal policy and Bush's fault?

yes, flooding the market with money lowering interest rates so people will buy their way out of recession after 9-11 was an actual bush policy.

    do you disagree?

Bush sets the interest rates? And you think interest rate is the biggest cause of our current problems?

no, people buying homes they can't afford with the cheap money provided, wall street buying up these mortgages, unregulated (republican mantra) derivatives associated with these products.

    do you disagree?
