What are we denying that you are trying to convey with this thread you created? Obama doesn't respect veterans? He doesn't like America? He believed D-Day is unimportant?
Exactly what the thread topic states. Obama ignored D-Day this year. He had multiple opportunities to take 5-10 minutes to give a speech or hold a moment of silence. He chose instead to go to California and do 2 fundraising stops. What is so important to fundraise for that he can't spare 5-10 minutes?

I didn't even know it was the anniversary of d-day and I had way less on my agenda then the President. Conclusion: I don't care about America.... Look as a veteran, I could give two ****s about how often a President commemorates past battles, fallen veterans etc... Why? because I KNOW its a show, a gimmick, a charade. For me, I know a President cares about matters such as veterans when he pushes for legislation in their favor(which Obama has done) and does not start wars on false pretense which threatens the lives of those that serve.
I just want to know if Obama was wearing his American flag pin today. If he can't spend 2 seconds putting that thing on like Ted Cruz does then he obviously hates America and is unfit for office.
Despite what Hollywood would tell you, D-day was not that important in WW2 compared to other events that brought about the defeat of the Axis powers. It's important to Americans (possibly even more for Canadians) because it was the largest battle they participated in, but by the time they landed in France, about 25% of the German army was already wiped out and the Soviets were advancing west. It wasn't so much the turning point of the war as much as a reaction to it. If you consider every battle the Russians fought in where they lost more people, they'd practically have a holiday every month, at least. Had the Soviet generals had their way, the Allied landing would have happened years sooner and spared a lot of their own casualties. Most of the rest of the world marks the most important day on May 8th (or 9th depending on your time zone) for Victory Day, and/or Victory in Japan / Liberation Day (August 14/15), which I think is a more suitable memorial. It recognizes the defeat of the Axis powers, which is something that every country that contributed to can share in.
Maybe he's busy fending off the billion complaints an hour you and your machine have been rattling about since the minions found out he was going to be elected the first time around. Besides, what did you do to commemorate it? Scrounge the net for ways to complain about the president? Seriously this act is getting so tired. You know he can't be re-elected, right? You might want to start turning the machine towards potential candidates for the next election, as I really think you're spinning your wheels here. The carryover won't be what you think.
i'd rather have him go and try to catch osama who is still out on the run, then hear some speech his scribe wrote for him on a piece of paper.
Sadly, at some point we should cease celebrating such events. Which President stopped celebrating the end of the Civil War; which stopped celebrating the charge up San Juan Hill; which stopped celebrating the end of World War I? There are some events that should be studied and certainly not forgotten. However, IMO it's time December 7 and June 6 should be relegated to the history books.
Memo to Obama: Henceforth, please commemorate the following events from World War II annually: * Jan 16: Victory in Battle of the Bulge * Jan 26: Liberation of Auschwitz * Feb 19: Landing on Iwo Jima * Apr 1: Invasion of Okinawa * May 7: German surrender * May 8: VE Day * Jun 4: Battle of Midway * Jun 6: D-Day * Jul 10: Allied landing in Italy * Aug 6: Hiroshima nuked * Aug 9: Nagasaki nuked * Aug 14: Japanese surrender * Aug 15: VJ Day * Sep 3: Italy signs armistice * Dec 7: Pearl Harbor * Dec 8: US declares war on Japan Nothing big, just step out into the Rose Garden and do a 10-minute speech for each event to remember the sacrifices made in that dreadful war. Maybe just 5 minutes on the smaller ones if you have governing to do. Don't forget to wear your flag pin. I'll follow-up with lists from Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Korea, World War I, Spanish-American War, Civil War, the War for Independence, and the French & Indian War later.
How could you forget Lebanon + Grenada? <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/LJ8TeImdp6Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> or Bosnia? <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YbGW--P1o2E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
How could you forget the battle of Little Bighorn? Don't be a punk and disrespect the legend of Custer...
