Except as has been pointed out the system is holding back blacks in our society. Their interest rates are higher when they have the same credit score, their prison sentences are longer when they commit the same crime, they aren't hired for jobs when they don't have a criminal record and do have the same resume as a white who does have a criminal record. Blacks with black sounding names don't get responses to their resumes as people with Caucasian sounding names. So while none of those are excuses for anyone to not try their best, it is something that is holding blacks back that isn't because of anything they've done.

OJ Criminal Trial ~ Simpson was lucky that a jury ignored overwhelming evidence of guilt to set him free. Zimmerman Trial ~ Zimmerman went on trial, the jury reviewed overwhelming evidence that proved his claim of self defense. He was acquited. OJ Civil Trial ~ OJ is found liable in a unaimous decision mostly because there was a ton of evidence that the criminal trial jury ignored. OJ is ordered to surrender all assets in a judgement. Later he goes to prison for trying to take back assets at gunpoint from memorabilia dealers that weren't supposed to be his since he had hidden them from the courts. Zimmerman Civil Trial At this point in time, Zimmerman has no real money. The evidence is the evidence. That said, the jury may find him partially at fault for the "following" allegation but with the the ****ty witnesses the prosecution put up in the criminal trial that is going to be iffy too.
