They don't know, even the "older man" part was conjecture on the part of the author. Granted, it is pretty much a given that the man was older, given the age of the boy, but the author is the one who used the term "older man."

The first attacks on his religion came from that stalwart of reputable journalism, the Family Research Council and have been picked up by the wingnut echo chamber. Here's a debunking of that particular point...

I think we all have an idea as to how that question would be answered.

What's really insidious about this attack is that here we have a man who wrestled with his faith and genuinely struggled until he was able to reconcile his life and faith, whereupon he blossomed into, by all legitimate accounts, an amazingly effective and committed Christian. Yet because he used the brain that God gave him to both question and answer, and because he was honest about that struggle, he is now the devil incarnate to Conservative "Christians." It's as if the only true religion is the one taught to you by your parents and childhood pastor and no questioning will be allowed. That's not American and it's certainly not Christian.

To these folks, St. Augustine would be Beelzebub. But of course, to the people making this charge (as opposed to those believing it), it's not about faith, but politics.

Polanski admitted to having sex with a minor we don't have that standard of evidence here and from what is already an admittedly biased source.

This is a serious situation but one where we don't know the facts of the story.

I would again ask you though if you do fully support Gay rights as to why then you are pushing an editorial from someone who already has stated they are strongly opposed to Gay rights and whose goal appears to be in this story to strike against the advancing Gay rights by smearing someone who supports them?

This is certainly a serious issue but one at the moment the standard of evidence here is questionable. The evidence you are presenting comes from what is a biased source. They state their bias in the quote I cite from the article.

 

Are you really saying that Jennings would have been right to out the boy to the entire world, in the process creating a media circus around the boy?

If so, then your claims of being a gay rights supporter ring pretty hollow.

 

What he's really saying is that he'll support anything that might harm Obama and Democrats politically.

But that has nothing to do with the facts as we know them. If he donned a wig and sang about the sun coming up in the west and then sang that the guy dragging it across the sky is gay and then sang that Apollo said terrible things about baby Jesus, then you'd have an on-point analogy.
