Why would anyone question an editorial published in a paper that was founded by the messiah? I know basso believes in jesus moon!

    he just did.

he only has two quotes. everything else he just made up.

    "to use a condom"

"left my office with a smile on his face that I would see every time I saw him on the campus for the next two years, until he graduated"

I guess that's why the editorial you posted states this:
[rquoter]Mr. Jennings has made extremely radical statements pro homosexuality in schools and about his utter contempt for religion that render him unsuitable for a prestigious White House appointment.[/rquoter]

Whether this story is true or not there is obviously an anti-gay bias clearly stated in this editorial that would make one consider the veracity of what it purports.

so the OP is reporting that the Washington Times is reporting in an op/ed piece that Fox News reported that a teacher violated a state law based on a conversation that happened 15 years ago?

as a mandated reporter, a teacher's job is to report neglect or abuse. without knowing the full details of the conversation and what information was disclosed by the student to the teacher, there is no way to accuse someone of violating state laws as reported by this article.

So the only way Basso has now to attack Obama is to dig up dirt on his appointees.

    Nice.

    Here's the full quote.

So, the guy is talking about how difficult life is for gay kids, trying to make a point about how hiding in the closet destroys gay kids. He doesn't encourage the kid to use a condom so he can have more sex, he says he hopes he did use one because he didn't want the kid to die like his friend did. Of course, part of what drove the kid to a public restroom was the total freak out supporters of the Republican Party were undergoing regarding anything gay/AIDS related, yet these same folks now want to crucify this guy for not going to the cops and outing the kid (thus perhaps making him more suicidal), over an incident that he has no first hand knowledge of... and absolutely no knowledge of the "older man." There was nothing illegal here and no encouraging of statutory rape. Still, he perhaps could have handled it differently... maybe trying to get the kid counseling or something, but it was a difficult situation, he did the best he could at the time, learned from it, and went on to try to change society so it wouldn't happen to other kids.

That Jennings went on to found an organization that helps kids like the one he's talking about here is apparently beyond the comprehension of those on the hunt for the scalps of any Obama appointee who happens to be gay, particularly if they're in a position that looks like a "Czar."

So ends basso's participation in another of his inaccurate and dishonest threads.

I know for damn sure that if this had been a 15-YO girl seeking anonymous sex with strangers, basso (and all of you) would have no concern whatsoever about this "leader's" choices!

    You harpies are a trip!!

No more than anyone else can support the contentions made against basso.... that's the point.

basso will have to speak for himself. Most of us would be up in arms if this were a female but are we not supposed to be up in arms because this 15 YO is a gay male?

Of course he can't - but don't you dare criticize his conjecture!

Giddyup is the living embodiment of our country's societal inability to chastise ignorance.

I cannot claim credit for this, but here's an interesting viewpoint:

You are aware that there are no details regarding the alleged tryst between the boy and someone "older," right?

I was considering going into a longer message further detailing the FAIL in your comparison, but then I remembered that you are basso...

Does the boy's own admission count for anything? This is not an accusation brought about by hostile parties but rather a recounting brought forth by a sympathetic party.

The only facts in that article (actual quotes, not the opinion of an incredibly biased and bigoted author) were that the boy was encouraged to practice safe sex and that as a result of the talk they had, the boy started looking happy at school. The rest of the article is opinion and conjecture.

However, even if it weren't, what would you suggest he should have done? Should he have outed the boy to the whole world by creating a media circus around a boy and an unknown man? Bringing someone out of the closet is nobody's place but their own. I would have done the same thing, I would have counseled the boy to use protection and I would have suggested that what he engaged in was abuse, not sex. I might have tried to convince the boy to come out of the closet and turn the older man in for prosecution, but I would never have simply presumed to do it myself.

Anyone who says they would do otherwise has no empathy at all for homosexuals.
