I think you misunderstood me. basso starts these threads knowing full well that the stories are bogus. His attempt is to create confusion and havoc amongst the unwary. Become wary!
My point is, the people you cited who "believe those extreme views and stories" only do so because it already fits within their preconceived notions. My suggestion is that "those extreme views and stories" are mostly for those who scream "WTF?" or "Amen" and does little to change peoples thoughts on the topic.
That's probably the case, often enough, but I my experience is that more "regular folks" fall into the trap of believing this stuff than you might think possible.
I see how it can be offensive, but the death threats were equally as idiotic IMO. I think the person had every right to purchase the billboard though and express opinion.
you amuse me, truly. that you could think that Obama has "suffered" greater indignities that any previous president betrays an astounding ignorance of history, or a willful myopia, that is would be sad, were it not so pathetic. there were books written and movies made about assassinating Bush, fercrissakes. John Focking Glenn called Bush Hitler. do a little research ya jackwagon.
i seriously doubt there was any book or movie about assassinating Bush. For one, that would have gotten the person arrested. I don't trust anything you write - you tend to lie carelessly.
It's not even an American film - it's British. So how does that have to do with domestic politics? And it's not about the assassination of bush but rather the negative impact that would have on society in this current environment. Hardly the same thing as people having cartoons shooting our current sitting president because they don't like his legislative agenda.
your comments about there not being books or movies about assassinating Bush were as asinine as the many of basso's innuendos. but he at least sources his stuff -- and i think he posts after several cognacs.
a foreign made movie and a fictional thriller? The one book that actually is a critique of his policies has a loony chartacter planning to use a large rolling ball to smush him as his plan. That's what you quote as a book about assassination of Bush??? How is this some sort of indignation to Bush?
It's one thing calling Bush a war criminal, or one individual calling Bush "Hitler." When you have numerous individuals calling Obama Hitler, illustrating him with a bone through his nose, etc., methinks it's much more intense than anything under Bush. And besides, Obama's been in office for, what, less than 2 years? We were seeing this stuff AT THE BEGINNING OF HIS FIRST YEAR. Really, who's the jacka**? I've been a supporter of both parties, and lemme tell ya, the Republicans and the Tea Party are definitely the hypocrites and the deceivers in this whole election year, as a whole. Most of the people on that side who are b**ching about the economy aren't even the ones who are out of work!! It's a bunch of lip service. They hold up their Etch-A-Sketch Constitution and then shake it as soon as they're in office. They talk of a complete free market system when they'll be the first one complaining when the produce is rotten. You can hear the moral chorus: free markets= freedom=liberty=endowed by the Creator, as written in the Declaration of Independence by the Founders. It's the perfect exploitation of the world-view of conservative middle-class (mostly) white people, all to enrich the super-rich at the expense of their unknowing, patriotic ground troops.
Out of curiosity, if you are not outraged about this poster, then why do you seem angry that it was done to Bush? Did you derive your principles from that specific event (dems crashing Bush's character)? It seems to me that if you agree with the practice, you wouldn't be outraged when it was done to Bush. If you disagree, then you would be outraged both times. Regardless of whether other people have double standards and only got irritated for one or the other, you shouldn't develop double standards just because they did. Seems a tad childish, if true.
since his guy was ridiculed in a way, he wants to do it back and gets a joy is seeing that others use the same defense that he used for Bush. I understand what he is doing. He's exposing the double standards...but basically, certain posters hit a nerve in him during the Bush years and this is his way of getting back.
The billboard advertisers probably shouldn't be legally restricted from keeping the sign up, and could probably do a better job of protecting their client's privacy; from a strictly commercial standpoint.
Yeah, some British guy writing a book about what would happen in the aftermath of the President's assassination is so much worse than people showing up to the President's town hall meeting dressed like this:
