Oh my. The term "jump the shark" refers to Fonzie, who actually made the jump, didn't he?

We need a new term for attempting the jump, having the motorcycle burst into flames, and land as a little snack into the waiting jaws of an immense great white.

While some don't seem to have anything positive to say about their own candidate so post videos with lies such as Ayers hosting Obama's coming out party which has already been shown to be false. I thought I'd post something positive about Obama.

Obama takes leadership of his party, and makes a bold move toward change.

Of course he is going to say that he has Soros and other liberal extremist throwing millions at him. And by the way the issue isn't that a had a relationship with an old terrorist. The problem is he hasn't come clean on that. If he just would be honest to the AMerican people and not feed us half truths which are just lipstick on a pig lies. Come clean and I will respect that. Tell the whole truth, expand on it and then be done with it. There would be no ammo for Mcccain and people could judge for themselves.

Special thanks to google's 10th anniversary search engine that replicated the 2001 data...

    http://web.archive.org/web/20010724...edu/releases/97/971104.juvenile.justice.shtml

Ayers and both Obama's working together.

The article is about a good program, one could argue... but my question is still, "When did Barack know Ayers was an unrepentant terrorist?"

They worked closely together on several occasions... why was it never an issue that would separate the two in Obama's mind?

If it were me, as soon as I knew I'd disassociate.

Oh, and why was the article posted in '97, but updated in 2000?

Should a child ever be called a “super predator?”
A panel at the University of Chicago debates the merits of the juvenile justice system

Children who kill are called “super predators,” “people with no conscience,” “feral pre-social beings"–and “adults.”

William Ayers, author of A Kind and Just Parent: The Children of Juvenile Court(Beacon Press, 1997), says “We should call a child a child. A 13-year-old who picks up a gun isn’t suddenly an adult. We have to ask other questions: How did he get the gun? Where did it come from?”

Ayers, who spent a year observing the Cook County Temporary Juvenile Detention Center in Chicago, is one of four panelists who will speak on juvenile justice at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in the C-Shop of the Reynolds Club, 5706 S. University Ave.

The panel, which marks the 100th anniversary of the juvenile justice system in the United States, is part of the Community Service Center’s monthly discussion series on issues affecting the city of Chicago.

The event is free and open to the public.

Ayers will be joined by Illinois State Sen. Barack Obama, Senior Lecturer in the University of Chicago Law School, who is working to block proposed legislation that would throw more juvenile offenders into the adult system; Randolph Stone, Director of the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic at the University of Chicago; Alex Correa, a reformed juvenile offender who spent 7 years in Cook County Temporary Detention Center; Frank Tobin, a former priest and teacher in the Detention Center who helped Correa; and Willy Baldwin, who grew up in public housing and is currently a teacher in the Detention Center.

The juvenile justice system was founded by Chicago reformer Jane Addams, who advocated the establishment of a separate court system for children which would act like a “kind and just parent” for children in crisis.

One hundred years later, the system is “overcrowded, under-funded, over-centralized and racist,” Ayers said.

Michelle Obama, Associate Dean of Student Services and Director of the University of Chicago Community Service Center, hopes bringing issues like this to campus will open a dialogue between members of the University community and the broader community.

“We know that issues like juvenile justice impact each of us who live in the city of Chicago. This panel gives community members and students a chance to hear about the juvenile justice system not only on a theoretical level, but from the people who have experienced it.”

Anne Hathaway, Raffaello Follieri and John McCain are on a boat...

Anne Hathaway's ex Raffaello Follieri pled guilty yesterday to fraud after he pretended to be a CFO for the Vatican and bilked investors out of money. Today, he began repaying the government as part of his plea bargain and - wait a minute - who's that guy in the purple hat? He looks familiar and possibly dying. Why it's Republican presidential candidate John McCain! Ha ha ha, what in the hell? The Nation explains: The photograph substantiates reports that in late August, 2006, McCain celebrated his 70th birthday aboard a yacht, the Celine Ashley, rented by A-list con man Raffaello Follieri and his then-movie star girlfriend Anne Hathaway.... McCain is shown boarding the yacht ramp towards the smiling Follieri and Hathaway. Just ahead of McCain and shaking hands with Follieri appears to be Rick Davis--McCain's top aide and now co-manager of his campaign, who accompanied him on the trip and advised the government of Montenegro. A few months after McCain's yacht party, Follieri strengthened his ties to McCain's orbit by retaining Rick Davis's well-connected Washington lobbying firm, Davis Manafort, and offering Davis both an investment deal and help in securing the Catholic vote for McCain's presidential bid. For the record, my sources inform me there's absolutely nothing scandalous going on here at all, folks. John McCain just loves him some Princess Diaries. Not a fan of the sequel though. Upsets his angina. Thanks to Ben for recognizing this site is a haven of intellectual debate - and jokes about my penis. Frankly, I don't see how you can have one without the other. Again, nothing you showed there has them working closely together. They were both part of the same program, but it doesn't show any kind of close work.

One might ask that, but then one might ask himself why does it matter since there isn't a close connection between the two.

Don't worry basso, if Obama wins the white house and taps Ayers to head the new weathermen underground, odds are they won't attack your neighborhood.

    [rquoter]OBAMA'S HOT AYERS

    October 13, 2008 --

Barack Obama blasted John McCain last week for focusing on the Democratic nominee's links to shady char acters instead of the economy.

Actually, McCain's said plenty about the economy. But Obama clearly would rather talk about anything but his past.

Obama first became defensive when McCain running mate Sarah Palin accused him of "palling around with terrorists" - a reference to his ties to Bill Ayers, who co-founded the radical Weather Underground and bombed the Pentagon, the Capitol and NYPD headquarters.

Obama's main answer? All of that happened when he was eight years old.

    That's lame, for sure.

But Ayers' distant past isn't the only reason to distrust him. He has a present, as well - and Obama is a part of it.

The two of them have worked hard to radicalize Chicago's public schools.

Ayers' work funding radical "education" groups in Chicago came just in the last 12 years. And he teamed up directly with Obama on that.

As The Wall Street Journal has reported, Ayers and Obama worked for the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. "CAC translated Mr. Ayers' radicalism into practice," notes the Journal. "It required schools to affiliate with 'external partners' " for their funding.

"Proposals from groups focused on math/science achievement were turned down. Instead, CAC disbursed money through various far-left community organizers," such as ACORN.

Ayers seemed to envision schools as "sites of resistance" and for teaching kids to oppose "oppression," with a focus on America's evil and racist past - and an eye toward "social transformation."

This is the swamp in which Obama operated: The Journal notes that Obama was chairman of the CAC board, which handled fiscal matters.

All told, Ayers and Obama won more than $150 million to ladle out.

McCain, to be sure, has never accused Obama of sharing Ayers' terrorist views.

He's merely questioned the Democrat's judgment in having worked with Ayers - and having launched his political career from the ex-terrorist's living room.

    It's a fair point.

Incredibly, an Obama aide suggested that the senator didn't know about Ayers' terror past - which is a little disquieting, if true.

But he had to know what Ayers was up to with his school efforts - because Obama himself was helping him.

    Bad judgment?

    What an understatement.[/rquoter]

An endorsement of his book on juvenile courts is not an endorsement of his past as a violent radical. That's a fact. Claiming otherwise, on the other hand, is "spin".
