QFFT! Ashcroft got a big dose of Noel G. in his ear; "You want everyone from the milkman to the bus driver to football mums and dentists office singing yer choons. Sell out, cash in and buy some Armani. Lowest common dominator mate!"
Let me put this in 1990s Rocket-speak for tinman. "Creep" is like Matt Maloney, Bryce Drew, Randy Livingston, and Eldridge Recasner all rolled into one. Why would you want to see those guys come into the game, tinman? There are much better Rockets (songs) to be rooting for.
For anyone who bought the last Verve album, Forth, here are some extra tracks and bsides. And true to Verve form are better than some of what made the album! First... so they didn't play Creep for you? meh, who cares, I agree with whoever said that if that is why you're there, and it's that big a deal, then you weren't as big a fan as you used to pretend. And yeah, if I go see Van Halen, and they go off into that "Jump" crap, it's time to see a man about a horse or get another beer. Next, and let me be clear... maybe some people find Oasis more accessible... this is a subjective thing. I can appreciate that. To each his own. But Radiohead has been more creative and original all along, and continue to push the envelope while retaining and even gaining popularity, while Oasis has never sounded very original (even if it was likeable music), and ride the fame of their few uberPOPular tunes to this day. They can not compare to the experimentation of Radiohead, and if THEY left their comfort zone of ripping off Beatles tunes etc. their fans would turn on them. Radiohead reinvents their sound constantly. Maybe innovation and originality isn't for you. I get it. fwiw, I saw radiohead in that 1995 show (they opened for REM at the woodlands) and they did play Creep. Meh. It might be their most recognizable from that album, but it wasn't my favorite back then, and it isn't even close now, 23 years later. : ) Maybe Oasis is your preference, cool. Wrong, but cool. As for personable, aren't they the same guys who couldn't get along so bad that one of them heckled the other from the balcony while fans who paid watched the guitar player butcher the vocals on their songs while sitting in a chair, as the drunken a-hole singer laughed at him from the audience? Good times, helluva show. As for pretentiousness, Oasis screams it. They will tell you how good they are, Radiohead just shows you. Oh but the fans, hmm, nothing pretentious about all the Oasis fans putting the RH fans down with stereotypical nonsense, is there. that said, both have put out some good music, and be a fan of whoever you wish, but threads like this are bound to fail. You start your thread, post the propaganda for your favorite in the poll, and argue your heart out, and the numbers come out where they should. Trollworthy.
This won't make sense to you since you've never gone, but Coachella is much more about the experience than the lineup. My favorite part is getting to check out a ton of new bands in the months leading up to the festival, and by the time it gets here I have at least a dozen new artists that I'm in to. The vibe of being in the desert with other music lovers for 3 days is hard to explain, and is something you should definitely experience for yourself if you have any interest at all. Trust me that if you go once, you'll vow to go back every year that you can. It's a magical place. 1 more month and I can't wait!
I highly recommend going as well. Only been to Coachella one time, but it was an amazing time...though it helps when you get to see the Pixies and Radiohead back to back
that's where you're wrong. Nobody knows those guys outside the Rocket fans. Creep is Kobe, everybody knows him, either you hate em or you like him. but you show up to the Laker game and expect to see him play.
This thread has been a shot of IV to the music fans on clutchfans, trollworthy? this is worthy of warriors and knights!
Meh. Maybe a half-shot... just seems a little "pickin' a fight" to me, rather than asking what people think.
Creep is like Magic. Very popular and good back in the day, but you wouldn't want to see him get any minutes now...
or even better, the masterplan itself... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kdvqss4S_-I&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kdvqss4S_-I&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
BigM, you just prove how passionate the Oasis fans are. Damn be me for not seeing them at the Pearl in Vegas last year. I wanted to go. the Verve was also in Vegas too. I saw Oasis when Black Crowes/Oasis had the brotherly love tour. I was in the VIP seats in the balcony. Rachel Hunter and her friends were sitting next to our table. Mad4it
Yep, that's my favorite from VH. You need to get Rocks from Aerosmith. If you can't get energized after listening to Rats in the Cellar and Nobody's Fault, along with the hits (Back in the Saddle, Last Child, Sick as a Dog), well, then I just don't know. The essential hard rock albums that almost everyone should own: 1. Aerosmith- Rocks 2. Van Halen- Fair Warning 3. Deep Purple- Machine Head 4. Led Zeppelin- II 5. The Scorpions- Animal Magnetism 6. Black Sabbath- Paranoid 7. AC-DC- Highway to Hell 8. Judas Priest- British Steel 9. Metallica- And Justice For All 10. Guns N Roses- Appetite for Destruction 11. Anything from The Pixies
The wifey and I were in Minneapolis earlier this year staying downtown. 15 minutes before we were going to go to dinner and go out she sees that Oasis is playing that night at the Target Center. We immediately changed our plans and went to the concert since she knew that this was one of those things that I have always wanted to do. It was awesome.
Yeah, I figured as much. I have the DVD they came out with about it. I do plan on going and experiencing everything, but there wasn't a whole lot I was interested in seeing. It would be great if I could catch Radiohead or The Flaming Lips. I'm a Peppers fan too, but I've seen them a couple of times. A little off topic, but have you been to Bonaroo? I know Wilco have played there and would love to see them.
I haven't been to Roo. I almost pulled the trigger and got tickets for this year, but their lack of electronic music is a real drawback for me. Plus I'd rather not be around a bunch of Phish fans this year anyways.
