that's a very easy one. hint, there's one british band selling out wembley stadium. It's not radiohead. http://www.nme.com/news/oasis/40638 Oasis add third Wembley Stadium show to 2009 tour Extra night follows additional Manchester date Oct 24, 2008 10 Comments Oasis news, reviews, video and tour dates Add Oasis to MyNME Oasis' UK and Irish summer stadium tour has grown again today (October 24), despite only going on sale this morning. Having sold out two nights at Wembley Stadium, the band will now play a third on July 9. The news follows Oasis' earlier announcement that they will now a play a third night at Manchester's Heaton Park after seeing out the original two dates. Kasabian and The Enemy will provide support. ----- I have to admit, if it weren't for Radiohead, introverts wouldn't going outside to the record store or jump into the thames river. If I ever saw Thom Yorm I would tell him "thanks for not playing creep at the houston concert ahole"
The younger generation would probably say RHCP or Kings of Leon. Those bands are huge there. Rightly so. Either way, Radiohead isn't as big there as they are here it seems. Most of friends there joked that it was suicide music. Oasis was big there, but again there are a lot of bands more popular than them there. I think if there were a poll, Oasis would probably win there. In the States, I'd say Radiohead by a large margin.
Oasis used to make songs with great melody and that you'd want to sing along with in the 90s, nothing really good this decade. Radiohead used to make cool and unique songs in the 90s, now they are the wannabe elitist music fans' band of choice. Not as good as the used to be, not as good the wannabe elitist pretend they are, and very boring. I will pick Oasis though because I am bugged at Radiohead's refusal to play songs like Creep and High and Dry. They pretend that they don't like them but the truth is that those are their biggest hits and they don't want people to think that they'd ever write a "mainstream" song. The fans who play along with the charade are douches too.
radiohead is a bit deeper, but oasis is easier to listen to, chilled out. oasis and their concerts are awesome.
The truth is those songs suck and Radiohead closes their shows with Paranoid Andriod, because they hate you.
Your a douche. Radiohead is not boring. Just because people like them doesn't make them elitist. Hail to the Thief wasn't that great, but In Rainbows is pretty good. Sorry it didn't come out in the nineties. As for not playing certain songs, whatever. I would like to hear more Bends era stuff when they play live, but Creep I could care less about. If its that big of a deal, why don't you guys go to a bar on Rock Band night. I'm sure it will come on then. As for Oasis, well I haven't got into too much stuff this decade. Heathen Chemistry really isn't a bad album, but I wouldn't put it up there with Definitely Maybe or What's the Story. Saying that, have you bothered listening to In Rainbows? Isn't more a douche-type move to discount something because the hipster kids like it? They do have good taste sometimes.
Yes! I was hoping to get your attention because your post about people who shouldn't go to Radiohead concerts because they don't dislike their most famous songs raised my ire and is exactly what I'm talking about when I say elitist wannabe music snobs band of choice. I never called out everybody who listens to Radiohead, I just said they attract a certain type of person, see above. And I have all their albums, I wouldn't say a bad thing about them if I didn't care.
Uh, if you're and "elitist" for liking Radiohead, you're an idiot. And if you think someone's an "elitist" for liking Radiohead, you hate music more than that other guy.
I wanted a refund Thom Yorm was as warm to the crowd as frozen fish and chips. Liam and Noel would say stuff that you don't understand but they were talking to the crowd and having fun. Thom doesn't seem like he's having fun in concert, but that's what makes the Radiohead fans happy cause they think being unhappy is cool. We like this song and you didn't play it. Oh man you guys are so cool!!! Radiohead! Hell don't play Karma Police either, its too 'mainstream'.
You're a dork. Man I'm letting 'em loose tonight. Ha! No, but like I said I would like to see some of their older stuff played, but it doesn't bother me that much because their new stuff is really good. Plus whenever a band tours they're going to play almost all the stuff off their latest album.
I'm not the one arguing in this thread. I just like standing back and laughing at dorks and dweebs like the 2 members above. correction: it's not just dorks and dweebs, wanksta poseurs are also fun to laugh at *cough*OP*cough* carry on geeks
you're too funny. stop joking around. oasis made two good albums, and it was the first two...and that was over a decade ago. you really are stuck in the mid 90's
Oasis' Most Popular Album: What's The Story, Morning Glory? Customer Reviews 422 Reviews 5 star: (283) 4 star: (68) 3 star: (24) 2 star: (18) 1 star: (29) Radiohead's Most Popular Album: O.K. Computer Customer Reviews 2,039 Reviews 5 star: (1,769) 4 star: (77) 3 star: (51) 2 star: (50) 1 star: (92) The numbers don't lie. 2,000+ Radiohead fans write a review for OK Computer. 400+ Oasis fans write a review for Morning Glory. Spin Magazine's Top 90 Albums of the '90s: OK Computer- #9 Morning Glory- #79 Bottom Line: It doesn't matter what anyone says, anyway- music is opinion, and regardless of any numbers like the ones above, if you like Oasis better, you like Oasis better and nothing is going to convince you otherwise. It's be like me trying to convince people that Cheap Trick is better than Led Zeppelin (I happen to like Trick better, but for personal reasons). Yeah, good luck with that one- Zeppelin, like them or not, have to be considered one of the top 5 most successful bands of all time. Same with Radiohead- I happen to like them better than Oasis, but if I'm an Oasis fan, I could care less- they'd be my favorite and that's that. But, really, Radiohead is at another level when it comes to stature, popularity, critical acclaim, etc. Some of my favorites (Radiohead, REM, The Who) happen to be in that category, and others (Midnight Oil, Buffalo Springfield, The Smithereens) are not. Pretty pointless to argue who's better, rather than who you prefer. But the whole "Thom Yorke is a jerk" point is silly. Look, I saw Guns N' Roses in Dallas in the '90s- they played for 15 minutes, Axl Rose got pissed off because the monitors weren't working, and they proceeded to leave after only 15 minutes. Was I pissed at them at the time? Of course. Am I going to say that Guns N' Roses' music s**ks because of that? That would be dumb and dishonest because GN'R is one of the best groups to come out in the past 25 years. Here are the other individuals in the past who have been accused of being jerks, a**holes, arrogant, and other unsavory names: Mick Jagger, Prince, Axl Rose, Ozzy Osbourne, Richie Blackmore, Jimmy Page, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix (yes, plenty of stories about him), etc., etc. Matter of fact, look at my favorite band: The Who. Townshend was arrogant and felt he was way better than the rest of the band, Daltrey used to start fistfights with the other band members when they had arguments, Keith Moon was a big-time druggie who used to tear up hotel rooms for no reason whatsoever, and John Entwistle- well, he was OK. The guy that did their documentary, Keith Stein, said, "Afterwards, I still respected them as a group, but they weren't exactly the easiest group of people to deal with. I was relieved when the project was over." Thom Yorke's personality has nothing at all to do with the quality of their music. Neither, for that matter, does the personalities of anyone on the Houston Rockets, to make a connection- I could care less what Ron Artest is like in his personal life- if he produces on the court, well, then, that's what I'm paying to see him do, not whether he shakes hands with his opponents before the game. Please!! Radiohead's Music > Oasis' Music (but I do like Glory and Definite Maybe)
