Oakley is someone whom JVG feels can step in while all of our pf's - Mo, Spoon, and Cato - are somewhat injured. He's basically Spoon with a little more attitude. He is not the last piece to the puzzle, only someone to help us while we are a little banged up.

    Let's use him on Najera!:p

Amare is too late. Maybe use him next year when we play the Sun?

Oakley's contract sounds like the same deal M. Jackson got earlier on. Van Gundy offered a 10 day out of respect for JACKSON and let him check out the team before deciding if he wanted to stay for the rest of the season.

VG sure likes power forwards. I'm really interested to see what we'll be doing for the backup C. position for the next 5 games.

Here's an interesting article from the New York Post:

    www.nypost.com/sports/21211.htm

Supposedly, one of the Rockets said that Steve had to plant that forearm because Amare was talking trash the whole game:

"Amare had been talkin' that gangsta bleep the whole game before somebody finally stood up to him. The thing is, you'd like someone his size to get in his face not a guard, especially your franchise guard. Steve could've gotten hurt, but something needed to be done. He always had our respect. Now he has more of it."

If this story is true, then I think Oakley could've been a deciding factor in that game in keeping Amare in check.

While I am not pleased about this signing -- I'd rather have our regular PFs back uninjured -- didn't we have a player named Charles "Methuselah" Jones who did pretty well for us at an advanced age? However, we have our quota of ex-Knicks, and we should leave well enough alone.

    Oh, wait...thats right ....NONE !!!

I don't like him, never have never will.

I don't think he has anything left.

What part of 10-day contract do you all not understand.

He is in no way in the long term plans for this team, but rather a short fix. Some of you guys act like he's expected to come in and score 15 points and pull down 10 boards. I know it ain't gonna happen and I'm pretty sure he knows that isn't his role here.
