We need a real all around starting PF to REPLACE Cato and Taylor, not another over the hill backup PF. We already have enough backup PFs.

if you're headed to meet Lakers in the playoffs,

we need a player like Oakley to guard/match SHAQ and KARL.

It's going to be a different world outthere.

Guarding Shaq in the playoffs is not a matter of quickness and age..

    It's about experience and reputation...

Charles Oakely has been a bad basketball player for the past 5 or six years.

Back when he was young, he used to bang and rebound and all the things we'd want. He stopped banging after he became a Raptor, and instead spent his time running his mouth, practicing usury and perfecting that 18-foot clank he became so fond of launching.

    <a HREF=http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#53">53. What are waivers?</a>

<i>........It's a temporary status for players who are released by their team. A player released between August 15th and the end of the regular season stays on waivers for 48 hours. A player released at any other time stays on waivers for 10 days. During the waiver period other teams may claim a waived player. If more than one team tries to claim the player, the team with the worst record gets him. If a player on waivers is claimed, the new team acquires his existing contract and pays the remainder of his salary. There is also a fee of $1,000, payable to the league office, for claiming a waived player.

A team can claim a waived player only if one of the following is true:

The team is far enough under the salary cap to fit the player's entire salary.

The team has a disabled player exception for at least the player's salary (see question number 17 ).

The team has a trade exception for at least the player's salary (see question number 68 ).

The player's contract is for one or two seasons and he is paid the minimum salary.
If no team claims a waived player, he is said to have "cleared waivers." The player may sign with the team of his choice at that point. The player's new team only pays the pro-rated minimum salary to the player. The player's original team continues to pay the balance of the player's salary. For this reason, few players are actually claimed while on waivers.
    <b>
If a player is waived after March 1, he is ineligible to be included in the playoff roster of any team that signs him for the remainder of that season.

Oakley would be a heck of a lot more useful in the playoffs than Scott pump fakin Padgent! My god he's a useless piece of garbage.

With Mo and Spoons' injuries we definately need a 5th "big" on the playoff roster. Padgett doesn't count since he's more of perimeter player. Keep either Boki or Pike off the playoff roster and add another 4 or 5.

I say give Mengke Bateer a shot. At least he is familiar with playing with Yao and has a big body. He was waived back in January so he is playoff eligible.

or call up Ken Johnson from the NBDL, a great 6'11" shotblocker

anyone know what Pig Miller is doing these days?

I think we need to sign another PF or big man. Especially we're having many road games. I think Padgett is not enough to backup Cato...

This is a list of available power forwards that I got from ***********.com:

    Vin Baker (?)
    Tyrone Hill
    Anthony Mason
    LaPhonso Ellis
    Charles Oakley
    Jason Caffey
    Dennis Rodman
    Chucky Brown
    Mark Bryant
    Ousmane Cisse
    Sam Clancy
    Ben Davis
    Alton Ford
    Don Reid
    Carlos Rogers
    Chris Gatling
    Shawn Kemp
    Reggie Slater
    Grant Long
    Leon Smith

If we were to pick one from that list, I think Oak would be the way to go. Jason Caffey sounds interesting also, whatever happened to him?

Makes me sad to see Chucky, Los and Bryant on that list. Do they really have so little left that no one will pick them up? I loved all three of those guys. All very hard working role players.

THIS is why we need Oakley!

I have NEVER been a Francis fan and still think he has the b-ball IQ of a 10 year old, but the dude does have heart and I gotta give him mad props for that. Our little Point Guard stood up to that baffoon Amare and didnt let that punk disrespect us on our home court.

Yao should have taken a hard foul on Amare the second time Amare dunked on him. Stevie stepped up and Yao was still timid. I dont expect Yao to block every shot but there are certain times where he should just lay the guy out for challenging him like that. Go up and swipe the guys arms and put his body in the opponents chest. We cant have out little PG be the enforcer of this team.

So back to my topic. When every one complains about how washed up Charles Oakely is, this is exactly when we needed him. I want to see Amare try to do that against Oakley. Oakley will drop him to the ground.

Yao is truly an amazing player but he is not the enforcer type player. Not now, maybe not ever. There are too many of these idiots like Amare trying to punk us and its time we fought back.

Oh my god you guys are killing me.

There's a thread about the game at the top of the page. There's a thread about "why we need Oakley" or don't need Oakley about five threads under it. There's one about Amare and whether he is or isn't a punk near the top of the page. And you need to start a new one to say absolutely nothing new?

I swear, man. We need a mandatory one year lurking policy around here before people can post. At least. Keep thinking it can't get any more ridiculous and then it does. Nice job.

I think Mjax and Spoon are enough. JVG's Knicks were never that good. And Yao shouldn't be another jump shooting Ewing. The only Knicks Rox should consider are Houston or Marbury.

Oakley? The same Oakley who scored 1.8 ppg and 2.5 rebs/g in 12 mpg for WAS last season as a 40 year old? For those that don't like math, those are per minute worse than Cato points and about Mo Taylor rebounding numbers...in the EC. No thanks. Let's take what we got to the playoffs and make our evaluations afterwards.

I'm sorry; this is basketball, not hockey. I'm not completely against having an "enforcer" type, but Oakley has no game and is just a thug. If I were content with that, I'd be happy with Cato as our 4, and the knowledge that although we'll never make it far in the playoffs with a 4-on-5 offense, at least our franchise players won't be "disrespected."

Is there a way to transplant Oakley's balls into YM.

YM has to make players pay for disrespecting him like AS did.

    He's got to get mean.
    He's got to get tough.
    He's got to get rude.
