Goes back a lot further than that.

If there is anything about Al Davis people know, it is that he will sue everyone and everything possible.

Probably has won more cases in court than they've won on the field in the past 7 years.

How old is he? I think the league would be better off if he were not around anymore.....

It would be a lot simpler if his old ass would stop meddling and just hire a GM. He hasn't coached a game since the mid 1960s, the game has passed him by. He's been trying to draft the next Daryle Lamonica or Cliff Branch for decades now and keeps failing miserably.

The owners still pay him a ton of respect because he helped vault the AFL into the national spotlight and then did a lot for the NFL after the merger.

He's done a lot for the game, and I'm sure the Chargers, Broncos, and Chiefs wouldn't be in any hurry to see him step down as senile Owner slash GM.

And I'm sure players like Javon Walker and DeAngelo Hall were grateful for the ridiculous amounts of money they were paid to play terrible football.

As are players like Russell and DHB grateful for ridiculously unwarranted draft positions

he definitley need to give some money back for his poor performance, but contracturally, I'm sure he's good...that's the problem with NFL economics, guaranteed money, paying upfront for something that may or may not work in the future, which happened in this case...
