LOL, leave it to SwoLy to be the only person in the world still defending David Carr...

This is going to sound weird, but despite his stats during his senior season, Russell never stood out to me as a good QB. He was never a player that I was scared of when my team played LSU. He was surrounded by a lot of talent on those LSU teams and was never asked to make particular difficult throws or shoulder much of the offensive burden.

This is pretty much how I feel too. Russell never did anything that made you think, "wow, this guy is something special". He just threw long balls and watched his teammates dismantle people. How many game winning drives did he engineer? How many amazing throws did he make in traffic? How many times did he slip the rush and pick up a crucial 1st? A guy with his build could've been the next football god, given a decent work ethic. But he got paid and that was all she wrote. Dude made 30+ million and after that, it was "whatever".

wasn't david carr as a serviceable backup with the Giants?
he might be a much better qb now then when he was with the Texans.

He could peak later in his career, look at rich gannon.

david carr is currently Alex freaking Smith's backup. I wouldnt be shocked if Carr is starting by week 8.

There is a 3 day minicamp coming up, there is no way he's going to suddenly lose 30 pounds in a couple of days and look like Brett Favre out there.

    This is just posturing.

If Steve Francis was white you wouldn't have defended him.

Not really. I picked up on the verb. It could have been LEAF, but he chose a really bad comparison. I am not defending CARR at all, just that it's such a bad comparison. You may not think twice about bringing back Carr as a backup; he threw a couple TDs as a Delhomme and E. Manning backup.

If you watched the games, you would know what i am talking about. LSU had a GREAT team. He was an okay QB at best. I hung out with LSU fans a lot that year and had to endure way more Tigers games than I wanted to. Not very impressive in my opinion, which was the same then as it is now.
