Women are generally interested in people and men are generally interested in things. Hormones and biology matter.

Interesting and all, but the whole point of the article is that the stats don't bear that out. Boys are only doing better in math in a very specific demographic, so it's not the "boy vs girl" that's driving the difference - that is what makes the data so interesting and newsworthy. It goes against the general stereotypes people have.

Men and women move into job fields related to that idea I was stating. Boys and girls are generally close to each other in math testing in the US up until grade 10 or so from other studies. This study would seem to reinforce that even if it isn't common knowledge among most people.

He starts by discussing the Larry Summers story where he mentioned some studies that pointed out standard deviations in IQ are larger in males than females. The IQ between the sexes is the same however larger standard deviations in men would create more extremes with IQ. https://qz.com/441905/men-are-both-dumber-and-smarter-than-women/ is another link you can read relating to that.

He goes to discuss possible biological reasons behind this variability being due to the fact that males are more expendable than females and that fewer males will ultimately reproduce compared to females. After that he gets into the people versus things discussion in the distribution of interests between males and females.

The lecture is extremely interesting and if you want a little more info related to this topic start it from 56:50.

My concern is with the article -- you know, text, that sort of thing.

That is just it: where are those paragraphs?

By "baseless" I mean they offer no citation.

Yet @Cohete Rojo makes this same claim and only he is labelled a racist by ClutchFans. NYT does it: no problem.

The NYT’s concern is not why are school districts like Los Angeles Unified so astoundingly terrible, their concern is why are the rich white boys doing better than rich white girls?

I doon't read the OP is scared of the Data
    but
How it is interpretted and how they want to implement policy based on it.
Which IMO is a fair point.

IF Girls do better then boys in English all the time . . . should they not be some kind of push to make boys more literate
Just as their is a push to get girls from the specific demographic more help in Math?

Boys who transgender to girls do better in girls athletics than the girls who transgender into male athletics. Take that for data.
