If trump does get impeached, I'm a little afraid he will get his sheep to do some very bad things.

"I've done nothing wrong, this is all fake news!"

His sheep won't do anything, they will all go back to being losers, waiting for the next "uprising".

Well, considering who would take his place if he does get impeached - Pence, our best hope is that it takes 2 years to rid of Trump, enough time for the Dems to take back the House and stop Pence from enacting a right-wing agenda.

If Trump is broiled in disarray for 2 years, it may prevent anything substantial from getting done in Washington.

The great irony is that Republicans stonewalled gov't to make people feel government was broken and to elect a Republican, but now that they have control of both Congress and the Presidency, they may be even less effective at governing than the prior 6 years of gridlock.

Let's not forget this classic line from Trump's son Donald Jr:

‘Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets...We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.’”

What if Trump really is innocent in all of this, and it's actually a sophisticated coup plot by Mike Pence, House of Cards style? He latches on the Trump train and learns that Trump believes it's in the US geopolitical best interest to improve relations with Russia. But, he sees how that can be made to look sinister, so he starts contacts with Russian agents through Trump's people in the campaign, telling them that Trump told him to tell them to do it. He sets up accounts that will ping as international transactions and leaks it to a reporter. When Trump sees the Russia questions start to come up, he advises Trump that he's investigated internally and it's all just fake news, but he should speak favorably of Russia or else the media will make cooperation with them later impossible. To bring things to a boil, knowing that Flynn was compromised and would soon be taken down, he went on national tv to play ignorant about Flynn's conversations with the Russian ambassador so that it'd look like he's been shut out of Trump's inner circle. Soon, he'll blow the whole thing up, make a speech to the American public denouncing Trump as a Manchurian Candidate and demanding an impeachment, and he'll give testimony to the FBI about his recent discoveries of deep ties directly between Putin and Trump and how, when he confronted him, Trump admitted it all and begged Pence to keep quiet. But, for the sake of the nation, Trump will have to be removed and Pence himself will be crowned -- errr, sworn in -- as the new President.

    Juan, that is cray-cray.
Pence has ever in his life shown this kind of sophistication in thought and planning?
    LOL. Entertaining though.

Why are people ignoring that someone from the NSA is giving out classified info to the press? Isn't that what Snowden did and now he's pretty much in exile?

Why does this story continue to get so much run? The New York times should be given zero benefit of the doubt with the way they have made up stories. They should no longer be allowed to attribute nameless sources because they have lost all credibility.

Unless they are willing to name their sources, I am going to operate on the assumption that they just made it up based on their behavior over the last year.

"Phone records and intercepted calls"? Let's see the proof.

Because it doesn't fullfil their hopes and dreams. They don't care that they've known/had this info months before the election, they don't care that its only being released now. They don't care that it's related to the FBI email investigation that was closed, they don't care the article states "no evidence of such cooperation", they don't care that this is "investigation" is still classified but somehow NYT is getting tons of uncorroborated leaks(could be fake), they don't care that no officials were names except Manafort who called the claims absurd, they don't care that the article says "it is not unusual for American businessmen to come in contact with foreign intelligence officials, sometimes unwittingly", they don't care the article says "officials would not disclose many details, including what was discussed on the calls," they don't care the article states "unclear whether the conversations had anything to do with Mr. Trump", they don't care FBI declined to comment, they don't etc..., worst of all they don't care that apparently our government is wiretapping the entire facking country!!!! If any of you CF'ers have family in Russia you're probably on a list.

Final word, I don't agree with Trump that this is fake news. It's completely uncorroborated, anonymous sourced, questionable timed, unconfirmed, potentially classified or potentially made up (can't tell since it's classified, sneaky sneaky), clickbait for sure, etc... What's disappointing to me is if I say this could be a conspiracy by our intelligence agencies to remove Trump I'll be bullied by cf'ers yet they believe this story which is essentially a conspiracy itself. why..., because this does fulfill their hopes and dreams essentially handicapping everything they think and say with extreme bias.

Guys, this may be in jeopardy. An anonymous, combative Internet poster who routinely defends President Trump, but doesn't support him, says there is something wrong with the story and its sourcing.

The author of the story is the same journalist who initially reported on Hillary Clinton's email server. Did you also dismiss that story out of hand?

There's a difference between editorial boards and investigative journalists. I'll read any piece from a WSJ journalist without the same skepticism that I would approach an editorial.

If the NYT named their anonymous sources then no one would ever leak inside info to them again. This is journalism 101.

NYT's credibility is sky-high with me. With the fake news business model booming, brand is more valuable to me than ever. I understand you have a political bias objection to the NYT, but I can't take seriously a criticism of their professionalism.

That's because my theory was obviously a joke.

I'm tempted to subscribe from now on. The NYT seems to be one of the few newspapers that actually spends time investigating the government instead of just click baiting a bunch of garbage, Breitbart style.
