I guess you missed the news that McCabe's lawyer responded to the NYT article and confirmed the existence and the accuracy of the memos and did not dispute their contents. Hardly anonymous.

I think the dems may be falling into a trap on this one - seems pretty obvious this is a leak from team Trump, but maybe the insider word is that this is a solid source.

At this point, it appears to me to be the New York Times publishing what might be Fake News for the purpose of trying to get Trump to prematurely fire Rosenstein. Which will not work anyway, because it will be Jeff Sessions that fires Rosenstein, if he gets fired.

It’s all fake news and very illegal leaks unless it helps fire Rosenstein

I’m not sure they got it wrong. They had multiple sources and the actual memo’s of McCabe. They point out that McCabe’s memo’s make reference to using the 25th Amendment but the source does not and the documents of the other FBI agent have no mention of the 25th Amendment.

Time will tell but I haven’t seen anything yet disproving it.

These stories are tabloidish. No matter what side you're on, these stories have gone nowhere.

They've basically gone nowhere because the country is in good shape. Until there's a real crisis none of this stuff matters.

This is the pretext Trump needs to clean out the JD and end the Muellar investigation. If he gets Kavanaugh, Putin will have unprecedented power to essentially do whatever he pleases without a congressional check. That's a dangerous area

I'm sure Trump put his call into Putin and Putin is like, "Don't worry boy, I will release bots to make cover-up. Now get back to being my b****!

If I was advising Trump I would say this is good fodder for gining up your base, but you start firing folks and you’ll quickly make the story about your dangerous purge and consolidation of power.

He’s more powerful politically when his base thinks he’s under attack from the all powerful “deep state” than he is if he’s truly crossed the line into half baked panicky dictatorship. Especially if it’s dictatorship he cannot maintain.

Meaning after he purges Rosenstein, Sessions, and Ohr, what comes next? Who will be able to be confirmed to run the DOJ? There are thousands of people who work there. Someone who isn’t going to be happy about this will have to step up to leadership positions... do you trust them? Can you keep the SDNY from releasing any damaging evidence?

Even if he somehow finds a loyalist to run the DOJ and order Mueller and the SDNY to stand down on anything Trump related, how can they keep any one of those officials from leaking the report to the media anyways? Does Trump then need to shut down CNN, ABC, NBC, etc to keep them from reporting on the leak?

You see where this is going. I just think the cats already out of the bag and no matter what happens, the only play Trump has is either full blown dictatorship or just play to his base to prepare politically for the fallout of whatever comes from the DOJ/FBI/SDNY.

The strategy seems to be the latter and I expect them to try to make everyone out to be the next Peter Struck by getting dirt on them and making all of them look as horrible as possible. Next up will be Comey and Bruce Ohr. Look out for their texts to be made public soon.

Question is how far along are Mueller and SDNY. Can they get completed before Trump has the ability to inflict the damage he is trying to do beforehand?

I honestly think Trump can actually “win” in the short this way to stay in office till 2020. He’s just badly damaging the office and law enforcement to survive this. Either way though he’s still EXTREMELY likely to go down in history as essentially a traitor and likely a Manchurian candidate who was a pawn for Russia. Even though the historians will say that even though that was the case, for some reason 25 to 30% of Americans just loved the guy to death.

LOL... so funny. First ingraham tweets out trump should fire Rosenstein. Then hannity rants about deep state but "advises" trump to not fire him. Then ingraham deletes here tweet. bill shine is actually running the white house and fox news.

It's pretty simple, Congress will not remove him - not with at least 34 loyal Republicans who will go to the end - and they will because their base will. So it's impossible to impeach Trump. The only other way to remove him is through DOJ and the courts. If he has the Supreme Court backing him, and he can put in a loyalist above Mueller - then there is no way Trump can be removed.

In that scenario, he is untouchable. His power can be checked in Congress until the 2020 election.

If Trump with this power can then work with Russia to continue to undermine the US election and work with states to restrict Democratic turnout or even actively work with Russia to change votes, he can win re-election and pull enough Senators to hold onto power for another 4 years.

It's unlikely he could go full tyrant mode though. As that would likely result in civil war. But again, if he has enough of the military backing him, and he has Putin backing him in full - it is not inconceivable. If he can stack the court with two more loyalists or expand the court to say 11 judges he could then own the Supreme Court. Of course even swing states would probably never agree to put him on the ballot. The other option would be for him at the end of 8 years to create a national emergency (say Russian invasion of Alaska) to declare martial law and take authoritarian power.

The reason he is untouchable is because he hasn't done anything impeachable

I cant believe you still believe in collusion

You know all these people that were once close to the President that are now getting deals for cooperating? What is it you think they’re providing Mueller? Do you think they would be receiving deals for providing bad or weak information?
