The result of the election so far seem to confirm that:

    (1) the art/science of polling still works, and

    (2) the laws of probability still works.

So far, Silver's predictions look pretty damn good. Obama has won this thing. He's taking Florida and Ohio.

I am guessing he will be called upon to poll for many candidates next election.

Silver doesn't poll anything. Everything he does is analytical, and its all public. It's just up to candidates and parties to decide whether they believe it or not.

but what about the FEELING that Romney's gonna win???

I, for one, thought that was a fool-proof method of prediction.

It looks like he will - including Florida, where the polls showed Romney ahead.

Like I said in the other thread, it's a sign of what Republicans have done in politics.

Regarding Science, History, whatever... When they don't like the reality they ignore it and often times like this try and create their own reality, ignoring facts, math, and science.

It's sad and makes it hard to work with people like that.

I'm sure that despite all that BS you hear from all the cable news pundits, the candidates themselves know EXACTLY where they're sitting at. The 24hr news media has to create tension and drama when none exist. But candidates and the people around them work with true data and interpret them intelligiently.

The only reason you never hear about such things is because candidates can't possibly speak of these data publically. Nate Silver can.

jopatmc and other Republicans blasting Nate Silver look like complete idiots. Attacking him publicly only raised his profile. Then he ends up being dead on correct again while under the spotlight.

If he had said 100% Obama, then I would have been impressed.
