Marbury is done in the league. He appears to be quite insane and has not offered much on the court to make a team think about adding his insanity to the locker room. I am not kidding when I say I expect we will see a "what happened to them" type of show about Marbury 5 years from now. I fully expect him to go off the deep end, be broke, homeless and on death's doorstep in a few years.
A thread about getting Marbury? Ah its like its July all over again. Said it then and i'll say it now - Marbury is selfish, not team orientated and doesn't do the 'little things'. Basically he is a loser and we don't want his attitude anywhere hear Houston.
Marbury won't take kindly to playing behind the likes of Rafer Alston. He's a sad story. He was clearly putting up Hall-of-Fame numbers for his position, but losing followed him everywhere. Talent-wise I'd love to have him here, but everything else he brings negatively to the team far outweighs his talent.
perhaps should sign him, we certainly need a back up for the 'over the hill overrated shoot first play no d pg' role
Don't fret, you aren't alone. You dont have to have all-stars at every position, Rafer will be fine as long as everyone else does their jobs. One should never discount the effect a calm and composed floor general can make, and that isn't one of his weaknesses. btw......I thought it was established by now that Starbury was a team-killer in every sense of the phrase, I don't want him anywhere near my team....I dont care how much he is getting. I have tons more faith in Francis making an impact than I do of Starbury bringing ANYTHING positive to the Rockets.
I am in the same boat that we can go far in the playoffs with Rafer, now that we have Artest. Horrible shooting aside, he does what a good PG is suppose to do in directing traffic and ballhandling duties. And even for such a notorious knucklehead like Marbury, we get the predictable low risk high reward comment from you know who. It's like clockwork: any talented player that suddenly is on the market; the almost bot-like post drops in a thread with the low risk high reward comment, even almost matching verbatim each time; obviously not much thought went into it before hitting the Submit Reply button. Newsflash: trading for DJ Strawberry is "taking a flyer". Getting Marbury on your team no matter how much of a short time it is, is an invitation for trouble.
I disagree, Garnets passion and defense lead by example. If you have ever seen the guy play live, there would be no doubt in your mind that he's a leader.......
just incase you're thinking that marbury would be a good idea here, even for the minimum... -link won't work unless you have insider, i guess you have to take my word for it... or (if you have your own account) sign in yourself lazy!
Is he really better than anything we have now at PG? Talent wise, yes, he is, but there is just too much knuckleheadedness (word?) in him to make it worth the risk. It's easy to say just cut him if he became a problem, but who knows what damage he might leave in his wake? What if it happened right before the playoffs or something? Not worth it. Team chemistry is too good, and one insane person can be controlled, not sure about 2.
Giving your best effort night after night, year after year, on a team decimated by extremely poor management decisions is not the sign of a leader?
