Those other targets would be on right wing nutzo radar if they impacted children's life, as much as a friendly talking purple dinosaur. A lot of the right wing nutzo's hot topics are school children related: school prayer, sex ed in schools, children enterntainment, evolution, etc. Methinks they are concerned that their children religious eduction (or indoctorination ;)) will be challenged by the secular humanists in our schools and in our kids' enterntainment.

As an aside, an issue that is just coming onto my radar is the amount of violence on TV. I have a two year old. I am now concerned that he will have trouble differentiating between real violence (on the 6/10 o'clock news which we don't let him watch) and Hollywood violence. I am sure this will be a nonissue when he gets older but until then ...

i think..not as a conservative, but as a Christian...that we might want to spend more time living like Christ than worrying about cartoon characters. the world might be a bit of a better place if we actually saw the church deeply committed to that, all over. i'm much more concerned with being an aid to those in a society that embraces heartache than i am freaking cartoon characters.

i hear ya..the news is frankly, not something i want my kids watching until they're old enough to understand. and the violence elsewhere is amazing. i walk a thin line there...i let him watch spiderman and star wars, so i may be a hypocrite, there.
