I think its kijnda cool he's in the modern era, but at the same time, i think he's out in the open too much. I mean, you never hear anything from the spurs gm or presti. Truth be told, petrie, dumars, and some of the other gm's just kinda stay behind the bushes.

Leaving aside the conspiracy theory and hyperbole about the Rockets, I agree with one thing in the post: That the Nets (Favors, Lopez) and Clips (Griffin) may offer more than the Rockets if they choose to. Not sure if they'll choose to offer their young studs, though, or if Melo will still want to play for such a team depleted of their young studs.

As for whether the Knicks can/will offer more than the Rockets for Melo... not sure. Depends on how they view Gallo (maybe Randolph) relative to the Rockets package of young guys + picks (which the Knicks cannot offer, unlike all of the other teams, until 2014).

I think it eventually comes down to whichever team can offer Denver a bunch of assets while keeping a competitive team that looks good to Melo. I think that's where the Rockets may have an advantage. They can sell Melo on not only their existing talent (whoever is left from the trade) as well as the front office's obvious competence (despite it not being obvious to this one Knick fan) at pick up good pieces inexpensively.

By the way, the attack on Houston is pretty unfounded, working with $40 million worth of players out all season, and with a roster entirely re-built on Morey's watch (Hayes was the only one whose initial signing probably didn't involve Morey, but Morey did re-sign him to a 4 year deal), the Rockets managed to have a better record than all Knicks teams after the 2000-2001 season (i.e. when Van Gundy was still coaching). It shows a pretty good understanding of basketball, as well as other good qualities as understanding of NBA salary cap, understanding of how to work with a coach, etc., no?

melo has said numerous times he wants his visibility to be bigger (as big as lebron). sure you can do that anywhere if you win multiple titles. and obviously he can do it here.

but he has a very good team in denver and he's willing to relocate? ask yourself why.

his wife has a big influence on his decision too, and we all know LALA wants to get back into the entertainment circle.

Yeah, I'm having a Twitter debate with this clown right now (I'm the bolded font)

And this guy called me a "joke of a writer." Do some research before you call yourself a writer...

Morey doesn't know anything about basketball....sure. And it's really silly to think that Morey feeds Simmons information, false at that. When has Simmons ever broken a story? And if Simmons had info, why would he give it to another ESPN guy to report it? If Morey had ESPN in his pocket, why would he give info to Yahoo?

And reporters do have some integrity. If this info came from the Rockets, why wouldn't they state it as such? Maybe because that would be a violation, talking about another team's player? That does happen though, so it wouldn't be a real issue.

That said, I'd be surprised if the Rockets didn't have a person or department who's job was soley to feed info to the media, as well as listen. They need to be able to react quickly to whatever rumor is going around, and perhaps spread some rumors of there own.

I would guess that this particular rumor came through the Nuggets organization, with some truth to it.

I think it's really "Adelman's fault," if you call it a fault, that Morey does a lot of radio. The Rockets last coach, JVG was much more media-friendly, and would go the radio quite a bit. Adelman seems to prefer not doing such appearances. Somebody has to do those radio interview on 610, 1560, etc. to promote the team and sell tickets. Fans like having opportunities to listen to the management (and call in to ask questions) So, Morey is kind of the natural candidate to do it.

Not sure if it matters. Donnie Walsh didn't turn down the TMac trade because Morey talks too much, not Brad Miller refuse to sign as a FA. And it's not like Presti or Dumars (do they not do local sports radio at all?) got Chris Bosh, either, by not going on the radio.

Isiah isn't returning to the knicks because of some conflict of interest with his college team.

2 out of 93 panelists chose the Rockets -- big whoop. This guy is overreacting over nothing.

The guy has every right to be skeptical of any rumor involving Carmelo coming to Houston, but his cheap shot at Morey reveals his complete lack of knowledge on the subject he's writing about.

Exactly. He also spent the latter part of yesterday talking about how worthless Jordan Hill is and he has zero trade value.

funny stuff no doubt about the whole ESPN/Morey/Simmons stuff but if that was ever serious or if he had pull you think the Rockets would be a bit more featured on ESPN and all but no.

And if anything Morey would dislike Woj because Woj broke the Yao foot story out of blue and kept hurting the Rockets' ability to make a move further with all the Tmac drama. Woj has his own credibility on the line he pretty much established himself as the best reporter/news breaker right now why tarnish that rep by putting something like this out if he wasnt concrete on that. Woj is a smart enough guy to realize that if its the GM who is saying like "oh Carmelo loves us more than the other team" he should probably take that with a grain of salt. Now if it was someone in the Nugs organization saying it then its a different story.

I do feel for the knicks fans though they were thinking Lebron and Bosh and got Amare and Raymond Felton. I mean everything they did was for summer 2010 and it was a bust for them they have to hold on to the hopes of this possible melo-paul-amare combo.

I do agree the Nets have better assets to give and you can possibly throw the Clippers in there with Blake. But you really have to ask yourself this... Do you truly think NJ would give DF and do you really think the Clippers would give Blake away in a trade for Melo? I don't think either team would offer that. Harris has value but Denver doesn't have a need for him when Billups is there.

I guess, given the fact that NY is one of the biggest cities in the world, it's just dumb luck that someone actually considers himself an dedicated Knicks fan.

Unfortunately this fateful anomaly of a fan wasn't lucky enough to be endowed with a basic knowledge of the 29 other teams.

Sounds like a Knicks fan that's just angry Morey swindled his team last season and that they gambled and lost in the 2010 free agency period. Speaking of periods, I wonder if that blogger is about to get his?
