Fact is cities like Cleveland have to pay more to keep good players. They can't replace a player like him from FA.

Waiters in his first three years hasn't been even close to Harden in his first three.

I think you're overrating Wiggins. KD was an absolute BEAST in college. He averaged 25 and 11, shot .473 and .404 for 3.
Wiggins was 17 and 6 guy who shot .448 and .341 from 3. Can't see how we extrapolate that to him being one of the best players in the NBA

I liked original version. It made it seem like the cavs and kyrie went to court to decide if he was worth the max or not.

I knew this will lit up the bonfire. KD is not way taller. He is listed 6-9, but he clearly is 6-10 or so. However, Wiggins is just about 6-9 today and growing. Wiggins is a SG and KD a SF.

Clearly the comparison is very difficult when Wiggins has yet to play his first game in the NBA and KD is after 7 seasons in a team build perfectly around him. KD, in his rookie season, shot under 30% from downtown and had an average of 20.3 PPG while playing a huge 34.6 min/game. I don't have much doubt that Wiggins will exceed those numbers playing fewer minutes.

KD is a scoring machine, but the whole team is geared to support that, Westbrook being the other obsessive scorer. KD scores huge from the FT line. He gets the calls and has a great clip. Sure, those are points too, but that doesn't require "high ceiling".

In the end Wiggins is a SG and he'll be compared to other SGs. Will he be that much better compared to the next SG than KD compared to for instance LeBron or Melo? Is KD better than LBJ?

It's just way too early to be putting Wiggins and KD in the same sentence regardless of what Wiggins' potential might be. Until he actually shows a season or two of playing at a level where you can see that he's going to become a future superstar, there's no reason to really compare these two until then. It's just as bad as all the Wiggins comparisons to LeBron pre-draft.

I don't think you can really say Wiggins' ceiling is higher than Durant's if you have nothing to go off of. That's a pretty bold statement.

Wiggins is raw offensively compared to KD when he came out of college. Wiggins to me is more comparable to Koby when he got drafted.

So where was Kyrie going to that they would have had to replace him? He's an RFA and they would have just matched any offer

Durant was the by far #1 option on his team and saw the ball almost 50% of the time, Wiggins was playing with a top 3 pick and a couple other 4 and 5* kids out of HS.

Cavs being cavs I see. Severely overpaying to keep Irving in Cleveland.
