He's also a bigger head case risk, and is currently on his contract year. Yeah, ZR does indeed up average 20-10, however the Grizzlies haven't exactly taken off despite him having yet another "Career" year. He reminds me a lot of Corey Maggette, another guy who puts up good numbers but is a net detriment to his team.

ZR takes too many shots and doesn't know how to make the proper pass to his teammates. Sure he scores at a higher percentage, but it seems to me that his team's scoring % doesn't go up as much when he's in the game as well. Can any ZR supporter out there guarantee he won't be doing this when he gets his cash?

Ewww hell no to Zach. He is better than Scola, but will come at a huge price tag after this monster season. I could see Sac, who has the most money to spend this summer, offering Z-Bo a huge contract. (Cousins-Randolph front court  ). Instead of trying to up their offer, use that money to get us a good center instead. Scola is an iron man, a work horse, and an excellent power forward to have next to a real center.

Exactly. Randolph is a free agent and if a team throws him a ton of money this summer, he will easily leave and we lose Scola for nothing.

    No thanks.

I wouldn't mind trading for Randolph as long as Scola is part of the deal. Then the Rockets can just let him walk after this season which will open up more cap space. That will help the rebuilding process if that's what we really want to do.

Z-Bo WILL NOT be offered a contract by Sacramento.

In my opinion, We should clear capspace this summer and sign Zach Randolph to a long-term deal.

Scola can go back to being the backup PF/C.

Do you really think any defensive center is going to come to Houston? Do you really think Chandler will leave Dallas? Do you really think Perkins will leave Boston to come to this team? Do you really think Nene is going to leave his 10 million player option on the table?

It won't make much of a difference.

What won't make much of a difference? The signing?

    a) Lots of good players are on teams with poor records. Chris Bosh continually missed the playoffs. Pau Gasol never won a playoff game. Brook Lopez, once (still?) considered untouchable, roams the paint for one of the worst teams in the league.

Saying Zach Randolph is a net detriment to his team is naive and shows a lack of research/knowledge of his situation. The Memphis Grizzlies were 24-58 the year before Zach Randolph. The first year with him, they went 40-42. So far this year, they are on pace to be above .500 and possibly sneak into the 7th/8th seed. Wow --- what a net detriment to his team!

    b) Can you guarantee that he won't keep up his play? Roslolian, I personally guarantee you that ZBO will be the same player more or less next year that he is now. If he's not, feel free to find me to pay off the rest of his contract. We good now?

People should stop acting as if he's only playing like this because it's a contract year. Last year, a non-contract year, he was putting up close to 21/12 a night. He's a monster rebounder who also happens to have a great touch around the rim -- that's not going to go away all of a sudden.

The Rockets say that they judge each player for themselves and don't let what they did in the past influence their decisions too much. I hope they do the same for Zach Randolph -- he is an all-star PF that's flying under the radar. Does adding Zach Randolph for Scola make us a contender? No -- nobody's saying that. But it improves our team (offensively and defensively), which at the end of the day, is what this is all about.

I knew that a lot of people would be against Randolph because of the many YouTube videos making fun of his stints in New York and Portland (and his off-the-court issues he's had). I'm not defending how he played in POR/NY; those videos are hilarious. I'm just pointing out that he's not the same player and you really need to watch him yourself to see that.

I can lead you guys to the door, but I can't make you walk in. Zach Randolph is a stud -- get on board, Morey!

(Randolph has 14 points, 16 boards (5 offensive) vs. DEN tonight)

We aren't likely to win much even with him. Signing him to a long term deal will hamper us down the line.

If no defensive center will come to Houston, what the hell is the point of signing Zach a big contract and making him play next to Chuck Hayes? And according to your logic, if Houston is so undesirable, why would someone as great as you're making Z-Bo out to be want to sign here?

And thank you for speaking so vehemently on Sacramento's behalf. They'll have the most money to spend, their power forward in Landry out the door, and they'd never want an All-Star veteran like Zach. Neither would any team in this league, for that matter, so yeah, we'll easily get Z-bo.

Another career loser to go with our core of losers...

Scola has not missed a game in his career, and he has proved himself in big game situations.

If we are going to blow it up, I'd rather grab Anthony Randolph than Zach Randolph.

It frees us to trade away Scola.

    Randolph > Scola

Houston, as a "team", composed of the players RIGHT NOW, would be undesirable.

Houston, as a "city", is absolutely desirable by any star.

Lol, vehemently? Nice use of the word. Let me tell you one thing..you really think Sacramento is going to bring in Randolph to take away all the touches from Cousins?? You're joking right if you think Petrie is going to make Cousins sit underneath the basket doing nothing and have locker room fights and wars with Z-Bo. Sacramento can't wait to get its own share of the Jail Blazers..this time only with a new and improved young Rasheed...

The reality is, there isn't much of a market for Z-Bo. We can cash in and get him at a reduced price.

I know you are saying that to make a point (one I agree with), but is Randolph seriously worth $10 million more a year? That's the difference in their salaries this season, give or take a couple of hundred grand. Scola's scoring is about the same, and he's quite capable of having a 30+ game and shoots at a higher percentage. While he isn't the rebounder Randolph is, he is an excellent rebounder, and can have to 10+ rebound game from time to time. Scola is a better passer. He blocks more shots. He moves better without the ball, in my opinion. I think he's smarter. They're both around the same height. Yes, Randolph is "bigger," no question about that, but $10 million dollars bigger? Randolph, in my opinion, is not that much better than Scola as a defender. He just takes up more space and is a better leaper (yet blocks fewer shots). Randolph is only a year younger than Scola.

I don't see as clear a difference as you do. Not for $10 million more.

No to signing Zach in FA for big bucks.

Use that money on Perkins. Why wouldn't he come here? He's on like a 5mil contract and is from Texas I thought.

I think players like him, that already has a ring...are more about getting a big payday...look at Ariza. Got his ring and came here for the dough, I could see the same situation.
