If Randolph is so great, why have the Grizzlies a bad record with a max player, two good guards and a Gasol than they prefer over Randolph.

No to Zach. Look for a backup center on a small contract instead.

Ask the Lakers why they have Odom on their bench ....

Who knows what it would take to pry Randolph away from Memphis , they may take Yao's expiring and ??? , there is the combination of Battier , Brooks , Hayes and Jeffries along with Yao who all expire after this season. There are draft picks .... we can speculate all day long on what it might take , but they wouldnt neccessarily have to include Scola.

    LTF right on the money

One of the most underrated players in this league, and the most underrated on this site, hands down.

But I don´t see us trading for him in our current state (maybe later).

I say that because we would upgrade our PF position, no doubt in my mind Randolph is a better player then Scola, but as you know, PF is 2nd strongest position, behind SG (yeah Martin is a stud :p).

I don´t think playing Randolph as a Center is an option. He could still ball, but, I don´t think it would be good for him, because I think he is a mismatch 90% of the times when playing the 4 position. Teams have problems getting is ass off the O boards, and when he get´s one, you know it is over for you.

If the team was closer to being a contender, I would go after him, but, not having a Melo, Cp3, kind of player, makes this trade non-sense. And the trade would have to include more then just Scola, to match salaries, and right now, one thing that keeps us on the front run of almost every big trade that can happen, is the amount of quality guys we have on good contracts plus the expirings. We just need to wait on Melo and go from there...... (even if I don´t agree on waiting for him, I strongly believe Morey thinks he has a shot at him)

After Melo gets traded, we can finally start making more accurate predictions about possible targets. I can see Morey going young, if Melo doesn´t come here (cousins or Favors), I can see Morey targeting vets that have expiring contracts before the 2012 FA (Nash), I can see Morey making all in moves.....

We just need patience, difficult when you keep losing because you are playing guys that you are showcasing for trades, but still....... In Morey I still trust.

Having said that, I am with you on this one, Randolph is in fact a stud.

If Scola is so great, why do the Rockets have a bad record with a SG who can score 20 PPG, the most improved player, etc.

If Pau Gasol is so great, why did he never win a playoff game with Memphis, etc..

If Chris Bosh is so great, why did he miss the playoffs so much, etc..

Basketball is a team game. You can't look at a team's record and conclude x player sucks because of it. Ask any well-informed Grizzlies fan and they'll tell you without hesitation that Zach Randolph is their best player.

Rockets interior D will continue to suck and the Rockets will still be hovering around 0.500.

Zach is an upgrade over Scola, but he still can't play C or block shots. Rockets are making too many short-term moves that don't add up to playoff series win. Ariza, Martin, Artest(this one worked, though), Brad Miller. When does it end?

So they think he is better than Rudy Gay?

Yes. And he is. He drops 20+ a night while grabbing 13+ boards. He's also been really clutch for them this year; he's almost unstoppable in the low post because he's so strong. I remember in the Rockets games, he hit a circus shot over Hayes in the clutch that sealed the game in their favor.

Z-Bo is an absolute BEAST. You don't average 20-13 on a winning squad without having some kind of game. Love Scola but Z-Bo is a step above and certainly seems like he "got it".

Problem will/might be the the new CBA, not sure how much money the Rox may have and will it be enough to sign Z-Bo. He will look at 12 million per and that probably is going to out of their range. Like other have said, any trade for Zach will likely mean Scola is going somewhere else, not sure that would be Memphis. They need money to resign Gasol and trading for Scola might hinder that, probably looking at some sort of three-way deal.

Is he still the black hole on offense he used to be? He's always been a good scorer, but usually it was at the expense of the rest of the team. And defense? His defense was maybe slightly better than Scola's.... if he felt like playing any.

I'm for anything that makes this team interesting to watch again, but I'm not for 110-107 nightly losses where there's just a half-court of basketball being played - the offensive side.

worried he's playing well because he's in a contract year. He gets paid once again, is he going to continue this level of play.

Why don't the Thunder go after Z-Bo? Wouldn't he be an ideal fit for a post presence?

I'd rather go after K. Perkins. A true, stud, defensive, center.

He is sharing the ball a bit more, his defense is about the same. Not worth going after,IMO.

I've never liked the guy and i'm not about to if he comes to Houston. DO NOT WANT. He comes off to me like a Ricky Davis type.... "I'm gettin mine" type of players. Stay far far away from Houston please.

Slight upgrade over Scola if we can pick him up cheap and add Thabeet/Mayo/Sam Young to the discussions.

Scola, Battier, Brooks, Jeffries, and some filler.

    for

Randolph, Thabeet, and some of the following Sam Young/Mayo/Xavier Henry

    Nice little deadline move

If you're interested in Nene, might as well be interested in Zach Randolph.

We call Scola the old guy, though Randolph's only a year younger than Scola. Scola's more durable and efficient from the field. Randolph's a better player, but at what price.

I agree, this guy does not have a good track record. I feel like if we get Zach he'd be one of those poison pills that slowly kills the franchise and next thing you know we are the Houston Rockets, a team that hasn't made the playoffs in a decade....

Pretty much like what happened to NYK. Paying a few players that were 'good' but these type of guys that were only about getting theirs and next thing you know they were a perennial loser.
