Bring back Steve! His leadership and fight is what we sorely need. My only concern is would TMAC would want him...

Bring him back, we need a PG besides Rafer. TMac should support this move if the team can become better. Yao, talks to CD if this is possible.

I think Steve would be a great addition to this team. And in the off-season, I wouldn't be surprised if he would be willing to sign for the same money Bonzi signed for. And, imo, he should be starting next year. I know many of you appreciate the job Rafer has done, but I still dont think is a legitimate starting pg. I think he played his best basketball his few years with the heat. he did a great job, coming off the bench and hitting 3s while still getting valuable time on the court. I personally think he is much better suited coming off the bench. Steve would also provide a legit 3rd option, something Yao & tmac have never had. Plus, he is another guy who can finish at the basket. Someone who is willing to get into the lane and draw contact or catch and handle passes on the way to the basket. I think Steve is all about winning now and he has matured. he would definitely sign with houston if it gave him another shot at becoming a player again.

Of cuz he wants to be back, I watched Knicks game yesterday, and SF is becoming an Utility man over there. I guess he must love his old days in Houston, NOW.

We don't need another aging guard in Steve Francis..dude's almost 30 or he is already 30!! He's not going to be the slasher that he was, and we don't need another jump-shooting guard.

No, they need a guard who can create for himself. The rockets have only standstill player. Tmac and rafer are the only guys on the team that can even dribble well. 30 isnt that old. Francis would be a great addition

It seems that Steve has heard all the talks on this board - His stats line tonight with 55.9 seconds left:

    6-11, 21 Pts, 2 Rebs, 10 Assists, 3 TO

If Houston makes a first round exit - expect JVG to be out.

Certainly Francis would be a great fit, moving alston to backup point where he belongs. then we could focus on the 4.

Gut crunching loss for the Knicks tonight. No way they should have lost that game.

Overall SF is better than Rafer. I think if the Rox were to sign him to a 1 or 2 yr contract it would be a good move.During that time he can prove himself to JVG that he is not the same player that he was before he was traded. He would be a good overall addition. Things that I have seen from him that make me think that the move is worthwhile under the right money:

    - His free throw: 85%
    - His 3 pt: 40%
    - His FG: 40%
    - He has played for JVG before (albeit not a smooth tenure, but he understands what JVG wants from him)

Those are just a few things that I notice of him that would warant the Rox taking a shot at picking him up. I think his love for the city would drive him to play better if aquired. The situations in NY and Orlando have humbled him. The potential for him to completely change the dynamic of the Rox offense is too high for the Rox not to take a serious look at this move.

    GET IT DONE CD!

I disagree. Unless it's a total breakdown, I expect JVG will return.

It something about this team that I can't put my finger on. It's like they could be alot better than what they are.

I'd be surprised if he stayed - 3 first round playoff appearance and 3 first round exits - that's not going to get him an extension for sure.

IMHO Houston will have a difficult time getting out of the 1st round. If we play Utah- they are a very tough team. I expect the Rockets to offer Van Gundy and extension. The popular mind set seems to be that there is no better coach out there available.

I expect JVG to sign an extension. If he does not return it will be his decision.

I hope Steve can come here, but I do not expect it.....

Rafer + SF3 I would be happy with those two playing the point. Plus Rafer has been playing better lately and I hope he continues his good play the rest of the season.

You know, if he keeps playing this well, maybe the Knicks won't buy him out, but they'll trade Crawford instead. Paying someone $40+ million to stay away can't be easy, even for James Dolan and Isiah Thomas. Plus, the Rockets don't have the big salaries needed to work a trade for SF.

Good - excellent point about Cat. He never played as intense defense before that season. He really grew as a player. He responded well to JVG dicipline on defense. I really like Cat because he always comes to come to camp in top shape and tries to improve every year.

Even if Rafer played like this every night, we'd still need a backup. And he doesn't play like this every night... far from it. Of course, if he suddenly starts to, I'll be delighted and amazed!
