    Beck:

Friday or Saturday. Let me know if you want to catch the first playoff game.

    110th:

I'll go that far up but hopefully not farther, and only if they have an outdoor space for smoking and drinking at the same time.

what, you afraid cat woman will nab you if you get too close to civilization? in any case, make it near the F or V trains and I'm in, assuming you stay downwind!

What are prices like in NYC bars? I'm only taking a certain amount of money next weekend and I hope it's enough.

Depends on where you go. But plan on spending around $5 for pints. Burgers can be anywhere between $8 - $15.

At top of the line places you could pay as high as $11 - $15 for a martini. (I paid $11 last week at a restaurant in Midtown) But I doubt you'll be hanging out in those places.

Maybe one of you could invite Macbeth.

Oh, I forget - he's probably too busy banging yet another famous p*rn star, or dating Angelina Jolie, or playing at MSG...

You'd think with the obsession, some people would know that. Jeez, he hasn't posted in over a year it seems like and people are still making jabs.

    mc mark,

That's what I figured. And no, I ain't no $11 martini man. Give me a beer and a shot any day of the week. Or some margaritas if I'm out of beer. :)

where are staying? there are tons of places to drink cheap if you know where to look. what bars do you hang at in houston? that would help narrow down the options.

Well you shouldn't have to sell your CD collection just to drink in New York.

    :D

Actually, that was for an Astros' game. :)

    thegary,

We're staying at the Doubletree at Times Square. I'm a hole in the wall type guy, but my friend may want something a little nicer than I typically frequent. He told me the name of one bar we're for sure going to, but I can't remember it right now.

Ah! Rudy's comes to mind! Cheap beer and free hot dogs all the time! No TV for games though!

    where is rudy's?
i think watchiing the game complicates matters. maybe we should meet as early as possible, 6:30 or so, have beer and then decide whether to watch the game or not.

Kevin St. James is the place my buddy goes every year.

Here in Houston, I normally hang out at places like Kay's or Woodrows. Give me a bar and a dart board and I'm happy. :)

If you're talking dives, this is it! naugahyde booths from the 20s (careful where you sit, you might stick) and the best juke box I’ve ever heard! Everything from Frank Sinatra to Frank Zappa

that's totally not my neck of the woods but it could work out for rocketman since he's staying near there. i would discourage him missing out on the east village though.

When I'm doing a search on that site, what area should I pick that's closest to Times Square?
