I'm in the keep KM camp.

I rather us trade Brooks + fillers for Melo.

How will Melo fit with this team if a trade like that materializes?

If he is, does that mean you'd take him over Kobe...because Kobe's less efficient?

does that illustration not show you why efficiency stats can be misleading when determining value?

ummmm....you sign him to a long term deal...he's instantly the best player on the team...the one they build around. the question won't be how he fits in with this team...the question will be whether the other guys will fit in with him, long term.

So what would our rotation be if this trade happened?

    Brooks/Lowry
    Lee/ Battier/ Taylor?
    Carmelo/Budinger/Battier?
    Scola/ Hill/Patterson
    Yao/Miller/Hayes

I mean, pretty good starting line-up if you ask me. The only problem I have is the logjam at the 3. If Carmelo comes, will Budinger or Battier play the 2? Will Battier start at the 2? IMO, I personally think Budinger will be able to play the 2, he's got quickness, handles, and can shoot with the best of them. So, I would like to see Budinger come off the bench behind Lee and Battier come behind Carmelo. So with the rotation being...

    Brooks/ Lowry
    Lee/ Budinger
    Carmelo/Battier
    Scola/ Hill
    Yao/Miller

Now that's what I call a DEEP team.

Agreed...I now realize fully how Morey single handedly screwed NY. Obiviously NY gave us a steal at the trade deadline. Now the pick they dealt to us could potentially be used to snab Melo. I bet all of the fans are like this -->

If this is the case, which I'm starting to think, Melo's the biggest p*$$y n the NBA. What player passes up a shot at a ring because his "wife prefers a city too boost her career". Melody will lose my respect if true

I'll put all my money that If we get Carmelo .. Kevin wont be part of the deal .. And people who think the Nets have a better Offer to make than us should think again:

I'll take Patterson .. Bud and Hill over Favors and NY next two picks are better than the nets 2011 if they get Carmelo they're easily a top 4 in the east

So, who's the bigger liability on defense?

It's pretty easy to be efficient when you don't command a double team.

Honestly, is this site or anything else with rocket related news worth reading once you start reading DD's post? He knows everything, even before the Rockets know it! Just read his post, and it'll save you having to sift through multiple threads or sites about the Rockets.

Kevin Martin and it's not even close. Melo was battling with Kobe in the playoffs. Maybe Battier can help Melo with his fundamentals on D.

I felt that Melo would be traded before the season. It looks like he will. This is a win-win. I'm happy with Martin and I would be happier with Melo.

I feel what you're saying...I also believe though that someone from Rockets organization could have easily come out publicly saying that they aren't pursuing Anthony....or that they aren't offering Martin in any deal..

Why help out a western conference team to gain leverage by keeping their mouth shut this entire time?

I've never noticed Melo being too much of a liability on defense either. That in itself is enough to justify the move for me.

This would mean that Morey can't be trusted, His word spoken to the players of our team would mean nothing!!!
I do not believe it! :p
