I feel that the bulls are 1A because they won't give up Noah. If they gave up Noah, I cannot see Melo still wants to be there. If there is not a good center, why would Melo play for them?

*assuming they would have to trade Lopez, or just gutting their roster in general

The deal if not including Martin...will probably be Brooks + Battier + Jeffries and draft picks.

I only do this assuming we can sign Battier back again.

because they would still be very good...boozer, melo, rose, deng and whoever is a very good lineup. all that said, the Bulls had a great offseason as a result of a lot of things they DIDNT do...and I dont see them breaking up their nucleus that they have put together

the Nets are a completely different situation.....ANYONE the Nets would have to part with would make them suck even worse than they already do...and Melo knows that and thats probably why we are hearing he wont sign an extension there....he wants to win now

All these guys (Ford, Bucher, etc) are the same guys who had Lebron, and Bosh going to NY, NJ or Chic as well...and Miami was not a front runner at the time.

Right now, the Nugs are going to milk as many offers as possible before they make a decision....which also has to be run by Melo bc he has to agree to SIGN with whomever they trade with for it to work.

It also wouldnt shock me if we actually have the best package on the table but that Denver is hesitant to trade within the conference so they are using us as leverage with some of the better Eastern conf teams that Melo would consider.

Its gonna be sweet when Melo drops a 40-spot on Denver at our home opener

So long as the price tag is Brooks and NOT Martin I would support Melo coming to Houston. I would also strongly hope that Buddinger stay o. The Rockets squad as Melo's backup. Let's assume that Martin will be hurt for at least ten games this season and so Budd can play the 2 spot some, too. Nobody's considering the Rockets as championship contenders but I contend that a team comprised of Lowry, Martin/ Lee, Melo/ Buddinger, Scola/ Patterson/ Hayes, and Yao/Miller is a force to be reckoned with.

The Rockets position only improves with time folks. The longer Anthony waits the harder it becomes for Denver to trade him straight up without an extension. this is because the closer to the end of the season he gets, the closer he becomes to just walking and being a free agent. His value drops to nearly 0 on Feb 22nd.

New Jersey isn't going to pull the trigger without a contract extension. Carmelo isn't looking like he's going to bite on that. So they are out. Chicago isn't going to cave either.

Neither the Knicks, NJ, nor Chicago is going to be willing to take Anthony on as a one year rental in any scenario - be none of them are contenders. They will all want an extension.

The more time that passes, the less reason anthony will have to sign an extension versus testing the free agent market (of course he may get afraid of the whole labor mess).

That leaves a question on whether Morey would roll the dice on Anthony on giving up some of those picks and expiring contracts for Anthony knowing he might walk.

It will depend on how far away we are from being a contender. If Yao is contributing. If the team is playing .600 ball and looking like it could be a legit challenger to the big teams, then you bet Morey pulls this off. For one, you gotta take that chance. Secondly, you don't have to give up much because Denver will be desperate.

And if you do win it all or even get really close, it becomes harder for Anthony to walk away from that to a place where he might be a loser again.

Trading battier to denver doesn't make sense since they want cap relief in other words they wont resign him and even if they did he might not want to stay there. I think morey is gona push jeffries, we can use battier in the playoffs after wards we might be able to resign him for cheap.

Battier would give them cap relief. His contract expires after this year. IF(big if) such a deal were to go down and Martin was not to be included, you're likely shipping out BOTH Battier AND Jeffries(along with picks and another "prospect" or two)

No way Denver is going to take a bunch of spare parts along with picks for Melo.....one spare part with an expiring contract...yes...but not 2 or 3 (i.e. Battier, jeffries, Hill) without getting a proven guy.....if we get Melo, itll be bye bye Martin

They can ship battier on for picks, relief to a team that needs shoring up at sf/sg, he's been an effective defender on lebron, pierce and kobe in the past, so you're basically looking at anyone, he'd certainly for example improve the 2 for chicago (i could see someone like thibodeau wanting him too), the 3 for orlando and atlanta, even dallas as much as that'd come back to bite us in the ass etc.

I think they will, AB most improved player 2010, Hill 8th overall pick(potential, given playing time), Budinger good talent, that right there is great marketable youth, one cap relief player in jeffries to make the deal work, and if carmelo commits to resign with us, the knicks picks will look very good for denver.

i dont consider Brooks a spare part....if he were included, I think he fits the bill of a good young player....but they already have Lawson at the point (after Billups) who the Nugs really like

C Bud is a good young player but he is certainly not gong to be the centerpiece of any deal for Melo imo....but as a 2nd guy along w a Martin or Brooks....i would agree with that

They will take spare parts at the trade deadline, the longer this draws out the less leverage Denver has. They have seen how much Toronto and Cleveland got for waiting until the deadline.

They will take spare parts next summer...like Toronto did with Bosh. They wont take spare parts now....and I doubt they would take them in Feb.

Umm Melo went to the WCF to face off against the Lakers. T-Mac has not played past the second round. Give me Melo.

i thought this but really if you compare Melo to T-Mac. They both have the same attitude (that lack luster attitude) but with this team they wouldnt allow Melo to get to that point...If Tmac where have come into Houston with pieces already assembled then it would have been different. TMac came into the rockets with no one but Yao and took us into the playoffs. If Melo comes into this team I see big results they attitude of this team is 110% everynight and Melo wouldnt have any option but to contribute.

with that said Bring Melo to Houston, Morey!!
