That would make the Lakers weaker in my opinion.

Obviously, it would not just include Bynum as the salaries don't match. Odom would probably be involved.

That would make the Lakers go from being one of the biggest teams in the league to one of the smallest.

The reason to the Lakers success has been their large frontcourt of starting 2 legit 7 footers and another 7 footer on the bench.

Also, I don't think Kobe and Melo could coexist, there is only one ball afterall.

I don't think the Lakers are content with what they have or else they would have gone after Bosh if that were the case.

Bad knees Bynum and old Odom straight up? Sounds like a horrible deal. Draft picks and youth are non existant from any deal with the Lakers. Unless you consider Bynums 40 year old knees youthful?

I'm done with the NBA if the Lakers land Melo.

    I would be too.

It would be Lakers and Heat in the finals for a good 3-4 seasons at least.

And with the refs and Stern, you could bet money that they will at least get to the WCF every single season for the next decade.

Carmelo on the Lakers is a scary thought, it would make for some great finals though, Miami vs. Lakers. I have a hard time envisioning Kobe and Carmelo sharing the ball, don't know if this would work. In Houston at least Carmelo would see enogh touches to keep him happy. Then again Carmelo's wife seems to be pushing him on New York, I think she'd be just as happy in LA.

Lakers getting Melo would be a move for the future. Bynum will never be more than above average (probably will be slightly better than Brook Lopez when all is said and done). But with Melo they can continue to be competitive for the next decade with Pau Gasol and Melo.

Hopefully. It cant happen without involving another team bc their picks suck.

Bynum + ODOM + Gasol >>>> Than Miami Front lines = no chance, out hustled, out rebounded.

Unless Wade + LBJ start developing Ray Allen shooting skills....i see very little reason why Lakers would do this.

They got the best front court lineup in the league. Phil knows this, hence why he just stated "Team Work" > Talent. I highly doubt he wants to risk his 3-peat.........

I havn't really been watching NBA games other than the Raptors and Rockets, hasn't Bynum often been injured or ineffective in the championships they have won? He may have had a couple decent games, but I don't remember watching any highlights where he was a force in the game.

I know everyone in the media is saying that the Nets have the best offer but I just don't see it. I think Favors will turn out to be a good player but I just don't see him being an all-star player. Even so, I don't understand why Favors, Murphy, Humphries, and a draft pick is an unbeatable combination when the Rockets can offer Kevin Martin, Patterson/Hill, Knick pick(s), along with instantly clearing JR Smith's salary off of the Nuggets payroll with the Ariza trade exception.

In my opinion a trade like that would give the Nuggets just as much talent in return while clearing $8M-$10M off of their salary this year. That would end up saving the Nuggets $16M-$20M when you include the luxury tax, which is huge! According to several articles the Nuggets have listed salary relief as one of the things they want in a deal for Melo so that is going to be a major advantage for Morey over the other teams.

Even though it didn't give us any real info, thanks PC

    repost

But from that article(I guess it's an update though I don't know)

    1. NY: This has always been #1 for him. Lack of assets on NY's end and/or 'Melo not being a FA holding him up from going to NY.

    2. CHI: Bulls not willing to give up Noah appears to be the holdup

    3. NJ: 'Melo uncommitted thus far to re-signing here appears to be the holdup

    4. HOU: An option only if ALL ELSE fails(?)

I have this feeling Melo is using us as a way not seeming like a prick. The more options you give the team you are on, the less of a jackass you would look like. I hope I'm wrong.... and if we get Melo without giving Martin, that would be a steal, but I would expect either Brooks or Lowry to be involved, can't be that we give them draft picks Jefferies and Budinger and get Carmelo, they would be getting robbed.

they way the article was written, it seemed like they have Chicago and New York as "1 and 1A" while Houston and New Jersey are 2 and 2A.

1 and 1A arent gonna work. Us and NJ

Maybe, maybe not. Someone just asked Chad Ford about what I said about NJ(Melo not willing to sign an extension) but he says no.

i dont see why he would sign with the Nets if they have to gut their team to get him...but if he really will sign with them, we're really going to have to impress Denver with our offer
