The Nuggets could then package Billups and Smith to a team, lets say Atlanta for Jamal Crawford and Josh Smith at the deadline.

    A lineup of

    Miller/Lawson
    Afflalo/Crawford
    Batum/Rudy
    Smith/Anderson
    Nene/Oden

That could give Denver a chance to still compete for a playoff spot.

Steve Francis didn't get to play with TMac. I'd prefer to see Martin stick around alongside Carmelo, but if Martin is who the Nuggets decide they want, you trade him. Knowing Morey, he's explored all of his options.

I think Martin would be someone that Denver would want because I was hearing from some article, forgot which one, that Denver really want's a legit SG. Martin fits the bill.

Unlike alot of people who think this would be a lateral move, I think this upgrades us at the SF position significantly and Lee is a capable starter. I mean, he did start on a Championship contender in his ROOKIE year. He sold me as the defensive stopper we sorely lacked at the SG position.

Smh. Why would Denver want an aging Andre Miller back? They already traded him before remember. Look, Denver wants "Future Draft PICKS". Greg Oden and Andre Miller? Good God.

No wonder why you have 3,000 posts in 7 months.

I'm just throwing some random trades out there.

    No reason to b****.

Honestly, I think we do have the best shot at Melo, assuming he doesn't want to sign the extension with the Nets.

We got high quality draft picks.

Am I the only one who can see this happening? The main problem that a lot of teams will have is being able to give up enough talent and still having a roster that Melo will want to stay with.

The Nets with Melo are still not a elite team, if they have to give up Derrick favors + Devin Harris or Brook Lopez

If they are only offering Troy Murphy and Favors, then I definitely think that we would be able to outbid them.

I think that trade link is broken... I got what it looks like Chauncy B + Chuck H. going to NO for Chris Paul...

Memphis were beating around for worst record in the nba when they traded pau...

The lakers benefitted because they were miles over the cap limit and needed solidification of talent and some serious backup for Kobe, Memphis benefitted because they ended up with (thru the trade and space created), a very good centre/pf combo, ironic really considering they were meant to be getting the bad end of that deal, Randolph has been playing really well and Griffin played as much as Yao last year.

checking into this big mac of a thread....everything has probably been said, but IMO giving up Kmart for Melo means Morey is worried about Yao. Within this loaded rockets team i can't see Melo being much more productive than Kmart, especially offensively, there just isn't enough touches/attempts to go around....Now if you're ready to make Yao into Zydrunas Ilgauskas (in his "prime"), then Melo can definitely come in and be used to the fullest.

Might be in Morey's best interest to drag this out and wait and see how this team plays for a month or so, but that may be too risky.

Yea because it's such a bad idea to pair a superstar big with a superstar wing.

The team won't be loaded after we trade for a superstar anyway.

Also, Melo's rebounding is much better than Martin's, and his defense is better overall, and MUCH better when you need one stop.

Yao is done. Morey has not worried about him for 1.5 years.

Just saw Sportcenter and they had Denver Post beat writer Benjamin Hochman on and he said "he's talked with numerous league execs today that Houston has had talks with Denver and though the the talks have not excusively involved Kevin Martin and his 20 ppg, the Rockets are definitely interested in Carmelo and are open to anything".

What does that mean? Anybody on our roster is fair game, includng Yao?

He also said that just like the Bulls, the Nets aren't willing to give up their prized big man in Lopez and that could complicate the process.

They are in no rush to make a decision because it is a potentially franchise altering decision and they don't "leave any stone unturned" in this process.

Yeah I saw that too. That's why I hate speculation crap like this. The way the media portrays it is so damn confusing. First they said that Martin HAD to be involved in a deal. Then they said he wasn't. Now they are saying "the Rockets are open to anything".

    WTF?

I wouldn't be suprised if Yao is a part of a Melo deal with Nene coming back in the package.

With these rumors floating around about us interested in Dampier and Fesenko, you gotta imagine that Rockets staff is not completely sold on Yao being healthy for the long haul.

"open to anything" probably means EVERYONE minus Yao. Yao's health is still to risky and probably not something most team would be willing to go through even if the end result could turn out well.

I can see Morey telling Denver to pick who they want and work from there.

You are into this thing too much! ;)

Don't forget that this is also Yao's contract year. Similar to Melo's situation, if Yao refuses to sign an extension, it would be meaningless for Denver to acquire him just for this season. This season the main task for Yao is recovering from his injury.

Yeah, I was just thinking out loud. Anyways, the whole point of Melo being interested in Houston in the 1st place would be to play alongside a real center in Yao.

Don't think the Rockets get much value from the Nuggest for Yao, given the health situation.

Also, being open to discuss "anything" is not the same as basically offering to do "anything" the Nuggest want.
