I'm hoping for the opposite. Melo and Martin would be a sick 2/3 combo.

We got Martin by only giving up Landry, a 2nd string PF......and a worn out broken down contract in Tmac.

It all depends upon what Denver wants to do.....and what they think of the players we are offering.

CBud is highly thought of around the league as an up and coming SF with athleticism, and Hill was the 8th pick last year.....

Throw in Battier one of the better role players and Jeffries to match contracts, then give up a high draft pick and that is a Herschel Walker style of haul for only Melo....

Their team gets more talented overall......and much deeper.

Melo is going to have to change his game significantly and move his body off the ball as well as pass, otherwise, it will be a chemical spill not seen around these parts since BP in the Gulf.

    :)

good god you are about to hit 70k posts

and battier wont be bought out either he is way too valuable to be able to trade to any potential contender for a future pick or more young talent.

no way denver would want to buy him out (with the rockets' money) when they could just ship him to like the Thunder for a future first and instant cap relief and a young player as well.

if battier is traded i just have this uneasy feeling he'll end up in oklahoma city by end of feb and that is going to be bad news for the rest of the league for what he could help bring to that young squad

Yeah, but having a Lee-Melo combo would be an excellent defensive-offensive combo at the wing position, probably the best.

I can see that giving fits to teams like the Lakers. Imagine Lee guarding Kobe and Artest trying miserably to guard Melo?

Also, Brooks is a Laker killer and with the sorry PG combo of Fisher/Blake, I could see Brooks manhandling them.

Initially I disagree with that because I believe Martin's ability to create fouls will help out Yao and Melo A LOT.

But, I also think that the only other team that would seriously compete with our squad (w/melo) would be the Lakers. Considering how BAD Brooks rips on Fisher and Blake I would keep Brooks.

agreed. I also think Lowry would be a perfect PG for them.

Jeffries, Patterson, Hill, Budinger, NY picks + filler for Carmelo & Anderson is a lot better than what New York and Chicago are offering. The Clippers are the Clippers and the Nets sans Carmelo and the players they will have to trade for him won 12 games. I think we have the best shot unless Melo refused to play for anyone but the Knicks. If we could roll into the playoffs with this lineup...

    Brooks/ Lowry
    Martin/Lee
    Melo/Battier
    Scola/Anderson
    A fresh and healthy Yao/Miller

    that's a great shot at a championship.

And Matt Jackson states Martin will definitely be added to any trade for Melo...

    Nothing imminent.

Isn't their GM Ujiri an international scout as well?

Surely his staff has done their homework regarding international prospects and we have a plethora of them.

Maybe he's interested in Sergio Lllul or Lior Eliyahu?

I agree, if you have a chance to a Superstar, you go for it, no matter what...

BTW, I see it more likely to get a combo of Melo+Billups for KMart+Brooks+Budinger+sweeteners (Expirings and picks)

Denver would get a lot of capspace, young players and picks...Only Melo leaving would leave them halfway, not in strong position for rebuilding, neither for contending....

For Houston, Billups would be great for at least 2 seasons, the timeframe the franchise has for Yao...

Not only for getting melo, but this Billups scenario is far more realistic than getting CP3, hornetts traded collison recelntly to have him secured at PG...So I don't see they will let him leave easily now.

I don't see them giving up Billups.

And no way Morey trades Brooks and Martin. Either one will go, but surely not both.
