Until we know exactly what we'd give up, you have no way of knowing that.

    In Morey I trust.

According to numerous sources close to Houston, the Rockets' discussions with Denver re: Carmelo Anthony have not involved Kevin Martin.

I am not saying I do......I am saying no one does.....we are all assuming here.

And I trust Morey to a point....

Bringing in a top tiered player is the key, the problem is that I do not believe Melo fits that bill.
    ------------------------------------------

BTW - that could mean that the Rockets are not willing to give up anything substantial and are trying to do it on the cheap.....it doesn't mean anyone else in the starting lineup was offered.

Morey, more than likely is trying to get him for 2nd tier players.....

Or third/fourth tier players like Budinger + a bunch of picks.

It has to be Budinger at least......he plays SF, they need one back....he is young, a good player....so he fits.

I would think you would include Budinger, Hill, Jeffries, and maybe Battier?....

    And a pick or two....

That is something I would do......but not sure the Nugs would.

Sorry, but if you have a chance to go after a superstar and he actually wants to come here, and by recent reports and tweets he is willing to sign an extension with us, you would be a fool not to take it.

This isn't like the Bosh situation where he never really had any interest in coming here, and Melo is a better player than Bosh as well.

Bringing up the T-Mac situation, we all know that it wasn't about chemistry issues as much as it was about his injuries. He had a well documented spinal issue that the Rockets staff didn't investigate thoroughly. Even Adelman said that Tracy was a smart player who was great at setting up his teammates when healhty, unfortunately he wasn't.

Sometimes you just have to take risks to succeed in sports and in life in general. The Rockets took a risk with Clyde and with Barkley later on, but he was past his prime, unlike Melo who hasn't even reached his potential yet. The Celtics took a risk, the Lakers did as well, and now Miami has as well.

Another thing that you have to factor in as well is if we acquire Melo, our odds of netting CP3 increase tenfolds. I guarantee you that they are hatching a plan to play together the same way LeBron and Bosh did. I can see a conversation between Melo and CP3 being like this, hey where ever you land, I will follow you.

Lets just agree to disagree, K?

    ;)

But I do value your input.

if not Martin it would be interesting to see who would be traded just to make the salaries work out forget about the talent aspect of it.

    Battier
    Jeffries
    Hill
    Budinger
2011 swap and lower of the 2012 pick?

not sure if all that would be enough for Anthony considering that the Nets are supposedly offering Favors, and a future pick not sure how the above package would be better unless Hill really impressed Denver scouts.

I've said it all along that if we get Melo, AB will be shipped somewhere for sure.

DM would be granted immortal status if he could land Melo without giving up a starter. I just can't see it happening.

That is the exact trade that CH and I were discussing as something worth doing when this first came out.

And it is still something I would do today....losing Battier would hurt though, he is way way way more valuable than folks think he is...

If Melo refuses to sign an extension with NJN then the Nets are out of the running. Maybe Denver likes our picks and Budinger+Hill more than whatever the Knicks/Bulls/Clippers/Warriors are offering?

I would be ecstatic if we net Melo by giving up only our bench guys but I just don't see any scenario in which we land Melo without giving up Brooks or Martin. One of them is a goner, I just hope it's Martin and not Brooks.
