Melo has all the leverage. He stops any trade the Nuggets may want by not agreeing to any extension.

And what has Martin done exactly?

Like I said, that depends on the team in question. Yes, a smart team will say no to that, but lets be real...there are GM's(NY)that would possibly make a crazy trade and try over the course of the season to change his mind. It's not that unimaginable.

2004 playoffs (rookie season) didnt finish series because of injury
2005 playoffs lost to the champion Spurs
2006 lost to Clippers (ok legit goofup)
2007 lost to the champion Spurs
2008 lost to the Lakers (who went to the finals)
2009 lost to the champion Lakers
2010 lost to the Jazz while losing their coach

its not as bad as you think

Martin is just a high scoring role player. Melo is a franchise player and perenial top 10 MVP candidate

It takes a big three to do some damage.

Didn't he go to the finals with Adelman? Or was that the year before they got Martin?

But if Melo says that he wont sign an ext. with all but 4 teams then the other 26 teams will not offer anything great which means he has a say in where he goes

You're contradicting yourself. First you say that "some team will give their respective soul" for Melo and then you say that Denver won't get a great deal.

You also claim that Denver holds ALL the cards in this situation but then say that Denver will take what Melo wants into consideration.

Nobody is saying Denver HAS to do anything. Nobody. But 99.9% of humans realize that Denver isn't going to get any kind of deal worth a damn if the other team knows Melo isn't coming beyond this season. So yes, Melo has a say in where he goes. Denver will trade him somewhere so that he'll sign an extension and they'll receive at least a CLOSE bounty in return.

I digress, you're simply wrong here on all fronts.

We currently have a big 4 OR 5( Yao, Scola, Martin, Brooks and Lee). ;)

You might be right, but to assume all 26 others WILL NOT offer anything isn't logical.

We are discussing a top 5 to 10 player in the league here. Players like that can make a GM gamble. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but to say, it can't or won't isn't realistic either.

I bet there are far more offers from teams than we know about.

WCF? I dont know, but if he did he wasnt a big part of that team.

He had a solid role when the Kings had Artest and played the Spurs and LOST in the first round.

So I dont see the big deal trading Martin for Melo. Martin is obviously overrated on this board.

If we could have traded Carl for Melo or Martin are you guys honestly telling me you would choose Martin?

i dont think it matters the nuggets trade Anthony they aren't making the playoffs even with both the "K-Marts"

the whole 'not trading within division/conference' is the thing of the past now GMs are much more under the gun to produce results so they will take the best deal possible that helps their vision (reload vs rebuild) for the future

at this point i would want Anthony, he is one of the league superstars and a top 10 player in the league. Giving up martin would hurt but if he is the only starter that is given up in the trade then you have to make that move if Denver is willing.

chances are there would be a small trade involving the ariza TPE to help denver immediately shed salary if a deal for melo is made

Great job at showing your knowledge, seriously. That's just pathetic bro.

Get a grip and know the history of some things before you post. Adelman hasn't seen the Finals since the early part's of the 90s with the Blazers. Martin was never on those epic Kings teams that were arguably cheated out of a Finals apperance. He came after that era, and as Martin exploded into a legitimate scoring threat Adelman left.

Not unless they include Lopez, which they won't do. Remember, nothing guarantees that the picks from NJ will be any good, either, and no one knows how well Derrick Favors will play, where as Brooks and Chase are young and have already proven they can bark with the big dogs.

Ultimately, however, it's about where Carmelo and his wife wants to live.

Excellent post dude! I totally agree with you, let's talk facts here, sit back for a while and gather your thoughts before you come out with a naive idea like Martin is more "efficient" than Melo.

That being said, with all the injuries Martin had in the past I would definitely encourage this trade.

In Dream's first eight years. Dream lost in the first round or didn't make the playoffs all but twice.

First of all, I think the NY Times was just referring to Feigen's article.

Secondly, I am unsure about this. Carmelo is better, but him being the face of the franchise...not 100 % on board. I'd do it if I felt it would definitely make us a championship contender, but not sure about that. Chris Paul? Yes. Carmelo? Mmmmmmmmh....
