criticizing a style of play for a team vs criticizing an individual on very personal criteria. i make a sharp distinction. look...this stuff has characterized Francis' career, pgabs. i know you love him, and that's great. he's a fun player to watch. i enjoy watching him play too, even though he frustrated the crap out of me while he was here. the knock on francis has always been that he's immature...that's what his critics have said from day one. every time this guy starts talking off the court, he lends support to his critics, whether they're right about him or not. didn't you criticize Phil Jackson for doing the exact same thing to Kobe?? i know i sure did.
Of course you make a distinction. That’s my point, everyone makes a distinction when it comes to Francis. I believe your original response was that you don’t see JVG criticizing ex-players. When its pointed to you that he did criticize ex-players in a press conference after a game that had nothing to do with his ex-players, you make another distinction to make what Francis did seem worse. When someone points out McGrady has routinely criticized his ex-team, the BBS makes the distinction that he’s not immature he’s just mad and has a right to be.
again..criticizing someone's play...and calling someone out the way Francis did here...on a very personal basis. those are 2 different things to me. i know, i know...it's me. he's a swell guy and a proven winner.
I understand that, but what I'm saying is your first distinction was that Francis hasn't moved on by criticizing someone he isn't associated with anymore so when I showed you JVG did the same thing you had to use something else to make Francis seem worse. What about YOUR first distinction, how do you feel about JVG criticizing the ex Rockets even though they are gone?
Here is an Article from the Orlando Sentinal following yet another loss for the Magic (8 in last ten) to the Raptors. Emotional breakdown, continued b****ing to the refs in attempt assign blame elsewhere, poor defensive effort... Sure makes you miss those good ol' days when we enjoyed such juvenile behavior on the court, eh? http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...405,1,1868392.story?coll=orl-sports-headlines
i'm not trying to be evasive...i just truly don't understand what you're staying. my first and only distinction centered around the nature of the call-out...one about a team...another a personal dig at one guy, in particular.
Hey, Stevie is just saying what many people on this board were saying last year. Steve doesn't really fit into JVG's system. So yeah, I'm sure he's happier in Orlando right now. I have absolutely no problem with what he says in this article. I'm rootin' for ya Stevie! Best of luck out there in Orlando ... except when you're facing my beloved Rockets!
Its really easy to say that its classes and immature of Steve to talk down about his former coach/team, but we also have to look at what question was asked by the reported. You guys have no idea how sneaky and twisted these reporters are! They ask questions in a way to get a response like that and make their articles all the more interesting. Chill out on the francis hating =)
again..i don't see him calling people out, personally. he said his team didn't play smart last season. that's it. he didn't call someone out, personally. that's my whole point.
JVG thinks the team is more important than the player or coach. Good lord he preaches it constantly. Nobody in the league works harder than that guy. The fact was that SF couldn't handle the criticism. Remember the Super Bowl incident? A classic example of how SF put himself before the team. He didn't exactly take the heat for it very well. If he was worth anything, the guy would have said sorry, I f'd up and JVG had a right to rip me a new one. Instead, he huffed and puffed about it like a prima donna. Good freaking riddance!
