How were you not impressed with HIll back in college, especially his Jr year?
He was arguably the best player on the team, even back when Jerryd Bayless was on the team.

He unguardable one-on-one most of the time

arizona basketball is my favorite in the pac-10, back in the days of miles simon and mike bibby with their cinderella run.

but none of them were impressive (from bayless, hill, cbud). going into college, they were hyped to bring arizona back to prominence but the team was just mediocre. if him or bayless were true lottery picks (which bayless has also shown he's not), at least make the damn team good.

I cant predict the future, but i dont know how u trade a lotto pick before they finish their rookie yr. Chauncey and joe johnson were traded like this and look what happened. I like hill and his upside. I'm hoping this trade helps his focus and starts climbing. Adelman should give him 18-20mins a night if not more in this year of development.

No need to wait until Jordan's first game.

    Landry>>>>>>Hill.

Morey said in the presser that people shouldn't expect Hill to have a game like Landry's b/c landry is a special player.

But we have to remember, Landry wasn't traded for Hill. He was traded for Martin.

All and all, I'm willing to give Hill a shot and see what he can become.

Arizona was basically playing with 3-4 legitimately good players with a bench that was probably the worst in the Pac 10 the last 3 years: Nic Wise (solid lead guard), Cbud, J-Hill, and Jerryd Bayless.

Hill was the main reason why Arizona went to the Sweet Sixteen. He was unstoppable and a double -double machine every night (in fact he only had 2-3 games where he didn't have a double double).
There was a reason he went from a obsure NBA prospect to lottery pick-not only for his athleticism and size but his offensive improvement from his So. year to his Jr. year. By then he had a repoirture of moves in the low post including a turnaround right hand hook. He the only true big on the team those last 2 years and had to carry the team most nights.

You might not be impressed with him but the scouts fell in love with him and the fans of Arizona loved him.

he is not our 8th pick or whatever it was, he is just a guy we picked up in a trade.

but that's not necessarily true... the knicks (for all indications) seemed very, very reluctant to include hill in the trade. maybe it was an unwillingness to admit that they drafted poorly, but odds are they still saw the potential there and were not ready to throw in the towel on him quite yet.

regardless, 1/2 a season is not nearly enough time to accurately judge this guys future. he seems to have a lot of the physical tools, so he's worth a shot.

i don't think they were reluctant at all; it was all posturing. the reluctance came on the draft picks.

i believe at his best, hill will be a role player, which is good since we're in a winning now mode. i don't think hill is a bad player/scrub. with more minutes, i hope he can prove himself that he belongs in the NBA and will be a contributor next year.

Carl was not a lottery pick though. As a lottery pick they expect you to stand out in Summer League.

Wayyy to early to label him a bust. But I watch a lot of college ball and from his draft workout video I posted in another thread it is clear that this guy is very raw and will struggle in the NBA. He is definitely a long term project and I think if after 3 years in the league and he fails to show any significant improvement then yes he is probably a bust.

there are certain guys in college who are unstopable in the NCAA but their games dont translate well to the NBA. Adam Morrison comes to mind. Not saying HIll is going to be like Morrison because unlike Morrison he has the speed, size, athleticism to play in the NBA. With that said his college game was not that outstanding. If you watch the games he dominated at times simply because he was taller and faster than the other guys. But in the NBA he is no longer taller, faster, or stronger than his opponent. So if you dont have the skills you are going to struggle which is what he has shown so far.

I'm glad Hill is here. We needed more tattos on this team anyway!

IMHO Hill may break into rotation if Jared is unable to play as a decent backup PF. Adelman won't play Chuck and Jared at the same time. Two players can't shoot will drive him crazy.

Let me guess. Jared is not a Adelman type player. Chuck 15 mins, Andersen 15 mins. Hill will have some time to show up. If Jared can really play, send Hill to D-league. Just like AB, Landry, Dorsey all went through the D-league education.

and you knew joakim noah was a total bust for the last 2 years too right? until well....he got good.....

so after hill has one bad week with the rockets, that makes him a bust in your book? busts are supposed to be players who dont pan out, nowadays people just use the term bust for anyone who doesnt make an instant impact.

No problem, as Hill will be learning moves from Scola, probably one of the most fundamentals PF in the league on with one of highest BBIQ out there.

Rockets need to see what Hill can do because this draft is deep with pf also.so why not give him 20 min a game.to give Jeffres and Armstrong his min would be dumb.

This doesn't even make since, you haven't even seen him in a rocket uniform yet. Get over your man love for Landry, and give this kid a chance!!

You don't hear about Brandon Jennings partying. His idea of a party is shooting a 100 more threes in practice. Probably the biggest mistake the Knicks have made not selecting Jennings and selecting a project like Hill, they had need of a PG for the future and Jennings looks like a star. If true that they had all these facts, that Hill was a project, had a questionable work ethic they deserve wasting that pick and losing him for virtually nothing.

Once again a premature analyzes of a player without seeing him in a Rockets uniform. Look at the team Carl had around him, all those mentors to help develop him, do you think Hill had that in New York
