 I was at the Timerwolves' game in which he came off the bench during garbage time to just score AT WILL in few minutes. He was unstoppable and was the first time I asked myself: "Who is that?!?! I didn't know we had him  ! He rocks!"

Sometimes an individual's perceived failings are just as much (or more) the failings of the organization and the mentors -- kind of like a young kid doing poorly in school who has a bad teach, poor parental guidance, or both. Maybe the fit within the Rockets organization will allow him to bring out his potential with a combination of his own natural, personal growth and being surrounded by the right people as mentors (coaches, trainers, players).

I heard this too and yea agree....he HAS to play his young guys now but if he had a choice the rooks wouldn't see the floor unless an injury happened.

Well, I'm hoping most of them left with Tracy. Would be nice to have the "old' GARM back again.

    Overrated is an understatement...

D'Antoni is probably one of the most incompetent coaches i've ever seen! I can see why he got fired..

Dude benched NATE ROBINSON for 20+ games. Then benched Larry Hughes who was beginning to play extremely well. Avged over 15ppts at one stretch.

Jordan Hill i think will play and thrive with this team. Just by looking at some of his highlights, he definitely has potential. Has a nice mid-range shot. Would be nice to see him finish at the hoop like Landry.

You gotta go by "Year 3 Rule"...if a player doesnt show promise by his 3rd year...then you can say he's a bust.

As long as he's showing improvement every year...you cant say he's a bust.

Just look at Jennings...his numbers have dropped considerably since the first month of the season, but he's still a top candidate for Rookie of the Year

Well, I said "IMO" because someone jumped all over me yesterday for saying D'antoni wasn't that great of a coach.

I agree with the year 3 rule. Good assessment.

I think Morey knows Hill is a project player for a year or two from now. That is probably why he got H Armstrong as well. Hilton still has some learning to do as well, but at least he has some NBA experience. Hilton is another athletic big body we can have in the paint. If Hill just plays with energy he will do just fine for us. We dont need him to be a offensive threat at this point in his career. Just hit the boards, finish around the rim when Lowry drops you a dime, and block/alter some shots on D. Basically, just be 6'10 and athletic at this point.....

By no stretch of the imagination is Morey done building this team. This summer we may go through all this again with Battier and Cook coming off the books and being used in sign & trades. Hill and Armstrong have the rest of the year to 'tryout' for the team.

Thank you NY Post. Your lack of class will surely light a fire under Jordan Hill. LOL at calling him a bust in his rookie year

i got your back...D'ANTONI's A TERRIBLE COACH! Who wouldn't thrive with players like Nash, Amare, Marion, etc.? Steve Nash is who made him look like a good coach. He makes Mike Dunleavy look superior!

bust is clearly a bit dramatic but I could see how someone would think that. Again, we're dealing with a guy with all the physical tools but he can be flat out painful to watch at times. Like most have noted, he's relatively new to the game, but everyone should prepare themselves.

I do hope a change of scenary will do him good. NY was a mess and D'antoni i think is also a bit overrated. He's certainly not as cerebral at Rick.

Also, having character guys like Chuck and battier could really help his development.

You just have to look at two other NY bigs that didn't get much playing time: Channing Frye and Zach Randolph. Wonder how they're doing.

Most of you guys are just talking about why Hill was benched or why he can have great potential. What about the allegations of his laziness and partying? That's more serious. If they are true, he won't fit well with the Rockets.

Good post. NYKnicks are definitely a failed organization at this point and we know the NBA routine... if you're a rookie on a bad team, you're more than likely on an island as any help to a rookie might end up costing the vets money and/or the ability to move to another team. That won't be the case here... if he wants the opportunity to learn and grow he'll have it.

Several Reasons Hill's game could not be showing improvement.

    a. He could possibly feeling the veteran prescence and needs to get his confidence back along with his conditioning. [send him to the d-league] He might need a touch of success.

    b. NY stacked at the PF position. With the recent success of Gallinari (and comeback from injury) his minutes are solid at the PF position, Lee is also one. 2 PFs demanding full-time minutes gives less minutes for Hill, in turn lowering his conditioning. [send him to the d-league]

    c. Focus - off due to partying?,Bright lights in NY- could also be affecting his focus. He has said to of came to training camp out of shape. A lack of good leadership could lead to continuous slacking like this. Our organization can develop young talent at a high rate. If Jordan Hill works as hard as Carl the sky is the limit.

He's a kid. He just walked into millions of dollars for the first time in his life. If he did a little partying in New York, it's not the end of the world. The laziness, if accurate, could just be a result of the lack of attention from coaches. Some guys need more guidance than others.
