He'll have fun in New York and would be a great addition to their team. If they are only offering him the veteran minimum though, I hope he rides out this Dwight stuff and comes back to Houston. I always hate to see players I like in a Knicks uniform.
These teams have terrible talent evaluation departments. They just wait for teams with good evaluators to find players and then once their contracts are up they just throw around the Knicks or the Lakers name and say sign on the dotted line.
Any 3 point shooter joining the Knicks is going to see his 3FG% and 3FGA dive faster than a falcon. The Knicks are just wasting their talent by signing any of them.
The article never said the Rockets don't want Garcia or want these other names more than they do Garcia. Feigen gave a few names that the team is interested in, he didn't say it was a complete list. Don't assume that we get to hear everything in the news.
I watched in an interview that Cisco wants to be back, he loved the team.lol Even if he takes a paycut, he said.
The source was Cisco, his agent said it as well a few weeks back. He's basically saying the room exception, which after taxes and cost of living is better than the mmle in NY/LA anyway.
I hope for Delfino and Garcia to re-sign with the team. Harden and Parsons played too many minutes last year. I just hope they don't play any minutes at the 4.
This is true. Our room exception is more value than either LA's or NY's $3 mil exception. The only worry about Garcia right now is the Knicks being his home town team. He could have a desire to go home at this point in his career. The other consideration with Garcia is he could be used in a sign-and-trade transaction. We could sign-and-trade him to a team with no cap and a trade exception...like Memphis. This might come in handy if we get Dwight's commitment. Garcia at $3 million plus TRob/Lin/White is enough salary to sign and trade for Dwight without using cap space. This keeps us in a position to use our full MLE along with the bi-annual exception this off season. Why is this important? Well, it's simply another option that Morey has at his disposal. Let's say Morey gets ATL to agree to sign and trade Josh Smith for Lin/Asik. And let's say after Dwight commits to us the Lakers decide they'll sign and trade him for the 2 second round picks and 2 eurostash players we are getting from the TRob deal and Greg Smith. And let's say Memphis (or some other team) decides they want Garcia at $3 million per season. You can then put together Lin/TRob/Smith/Garcia contracts for Howard and have Asik and White's salaries to get Smith. Such a transaction would leave us over the cap with a roster of: Bev/Canaan Harden/Anderson Parsons Dwight/DMo/Ohlbrecht Smith/DMo/TJones But now you've got the full MLE and the bi-annual exception to build out from: Want a point guard to replace Lin because you don't trust the Bev/Canaan duo? Well, go after Teague in free agency. Want a backup 3...go after Dunleavy with possibly the bi-annual or a piece of the MLE. Another variation on what I'm talking about above would be a big trade with Milwaukee (another team looking for a really good point guard). What if Milwaukee was willing to take Lin and Asik for Ilyasova (perfect stretch 4 with Dwight) and one of Sanders/Henson (great backup Cs for Dwight) and a re-signed Dunleavy to say $2.8 mill per season? Same scenario: Use Asik and Greg Smith's salaries for the Milwaukee deal and use Lin/Trob/White/Garcia's salaries for Dwight. Stay over the cap and now your roster looks like this: Bev/Canaan Harden/Anderson Parsons/Dunleavy Dwight/(Sanders or Henson)/DMo Ilyasova/TJones/DMo and you have the Full MLE and the bi-annual MLE to round out the roster. Once again, need a PG? What if......(Llull's contract could be bought out and he would agree to come over for the MLE?) Stop-gap shooter at the 1??? Pookie Gibson is probably gettable for the bi-annual and possibly even the minimum? What about Shaun Livingston? He's available again. Jordan Farmar...another cheap FA 1 that can shoot it. We haven't even gotten to Josh Smith...or my preferred target, Paul Millsap. In my opinion if we are after Smith to go alongside Dwight, we have 3 choices: 1. Trade Asik and change to ATL for Smith. 2. Trade Lin somewhere else and send TJones to ATL for a signed Smith. 3. Trade both Asik and Lin to ATL in a massive sign and trade. Once again if we are clearing BOTH Asik and Lin for Dwight and Smith then the obvious move is to arrange "over the cap" trades for both guys if possible. It simply gives us more flexibility IMMEDIATELY moving forward to round out the roster instead of having to wait a year to add our ancillary shooters like Miami had to do after they signed the Big 3. But one thing you have to understand: GARCIA IS REPLACABLE!! We all like the guy. He was a good addition. But if we can do better by letting him walk or by signing and trading him elsewhere, believe me he is replacable.
No idea where they got that from, born in the dominican republic, went to school in massachussetts, college in louisville.
