One of the big problems in New York, it seems to me, is that what happens with the team is affected too much by the fans and media. When neither has the patience to allow a team with a new point guard time to get things together, they want to fire the coach? Never mind the fact that his talent level has been horrendous this year up to the point of getting Marbury and Hardaway. Everybody talks about the New York fans demanding to win NOW. Well, then they get what they deserve. If you don't have patience, and therefore keep tinkering with things before you can reasonably know if the previous changes will work, you're destined for mediocrity at best--and what we saw last night at worst. I can see it now, Marbury will start to click, but then the Knicks will have to learn to deal with a new coach. New York fans are their own worst enemy.
from A-Train: Well, it's only a matter of months before we get slaughtered in the first round of the playoffs and Van Gundy is hailed as a "savior for a moribund franchise". I've got nothing against JVG - the guy pushes so many buttons - he's bound to hit a few right ones. And he has. I've got a feeling he's pushing some very wrong ones too.
