No thanks but let's not joke here. Marbury has a hell of a lot more left in the tank than Francis. The problem is that he is a career loser and seems to be mentally unstable.

I would, however, pay money to watch him being interviewed by Fran Blinebury.

i'll trade the rights to lior eliyahu and francis for marbury. masically you have a guy who'll stay in europe his whole career and still be a better basketball player than 80% of the world, francis who i really don't think will ever see 20 games in a row again, and marbury who needs to go ahead and just run his shoe company and stay outta the league

Yeah, I hope the Rockets pass on this one. I'd like them to go the way the Texans pick up players and only get the decent people that are wanting to be part of a team. As much as I want Artest, i still would rather have a team chemisrty than can rattle off 8-10-15 or even 22 games in a row.

This isn't a video game. Marbury can put up good numbers, but there's teammates, a locker room, a coach, a behind-the-scenes, and general common sense that Marbury fails at.

If it were up to some people here we'd have Marbury, Ricky Davis, and Ron Artest on the Rox. Read that again. Now think about it. You guys are making Isiah look like a member of Mensa.

    Here's a unsubstantiated rumor for ya. ;)

One of the first plays Mike D'Antoni is expected to draw up as the Knicks' new coach is for Stephon Marbury to run up the Garden floor ... and out the door back to Phoenix to rejoin the Suns. Once D'Antoni is formally named to succeed Isiah Thomas, he is expected to try to make a push for two of his favorite Suns - forward Boris Diaw and guard Leandro Barbosa, who reportedly have fallen out of favor with Suns management. According to a person close to D'Antoni, one of his first moves would be to get the Knicks to offer Marbury and his expiring $22 million contract as a central part of the deal."

Would Steve Kerr be this stupid???

I really can't imagine Marbury fitting in personality wise with this club. In fact, I can't imagine Marbury being a part of a winning club period.

I might be off-base, but that's my perception right now. So yeah, I would pass.

It's a shame too. I think if he would have stayed in Minny, both he and KG's careers would be viewed in a much more positive light than they currently are.

Yeah, too bad he was the reason why he left Minny. It was a sign of things to come :p

I don't know why many of you are so against Marbury.

Honestly, if he is willing to sign for a small part of the MLE(after we have signed our main target like Pietrus or something), I would gladly take him in the Rocket's lineup.

Ok, the bottom line is he scores on the court. He has very good career stats:
20 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds. That would've have been the 3rd best player in our team if he would average that with us. And last time I checked we were looking for that 3rd scorer, and Marbury fits that description, at least in scoring. You may argue that this season he's been pretty bad but he had injuries this season and only played 24 games, kind of like Mike Bibby so you can't really judge him just from this season's stats. Oh playing with the knicks, AND under isiah thomas automatically means you only get to do like half of what you are actually able to do.

oh and he must be really sick of losing after playing with the horrendous knicks so I think he'd be willing to sign for a contender, kind of like Sam Cassell, for a small contract.

I say lets sign Marbury to help us like how Cassell is doing with the Celtics!
(but ONLY AFTER we have put ALL our effort and resources to sign Artest and Maggette etc.)

Terrible idea. Say no to Marbury even if he's free of charge and comes with a bag of free chips.

I'm not here to say yes or no, but for every hell no, let me say this. Rafer was viewed as a malcontent in Toronto. Mitchell couldn't wait to get the guy out of town. Once Rafer established himself as a nba player and got a contract, he had problems in toronto. The rox traded for him and aside from the couple of altercations last off season, he's been ok and has found his niche.

Marbury is still a talent. He is strong, quick, and has good court vision. Everyone calls him a loser like SAR and ricky davis. I'm not here to dispute that, but he did lead a very young Suns team to the playoffs and took the spurs to 6 games I believe. The next season riding the wave of optimism, Amare missed the 1st 30 games, the coach was fired and he was traded. In minny, he talked himself out of town, but they did make the playoffs. In jersey, Kittles,Martin, and Van horn missed pretty much the entire season. The next season he was traded and all those guys were healthy and went to the finals.

What I'm saying is do the homework and really look into a guys career before placing a label on him. The beloved francis has been to the playoffs 1 time, and missed the team plane to go to superbowl events in houston. We see the overwhelming support for him and he's never been as good as a pg as marbury. Right now the rox are in the gambling business. If they can pick up any good talent for cheap, they should do it. This great chemistry and limited hard workers with a healthy yao has gotten the rox 0 series wins in 10 yrs. I'm not saying marbury is the answer, but I know francis, jackson, rafer, and head aren't either.

Steve Francis. He has very good career stats: 18 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds. That would've have been the 3rd best player in our team if he would average that with us.

NO to Stephon. To the guy talking about 'gambling' on Marbury - let's face the facts, we're taking the 'gamble' on Francis already. And it's only costing us 2.2 million instead of 22million. Let's stop talking about bringing in the 'anti-coach'.

Marbury does have some of the features we desperately need at the point. He is strong and big for his position, and can drive easily. If he were to sign as cheap as SF3 then why not. Rox need some size at PG. I don't think it'll happen.

I am seriously concerned, this is not a joke, that Marbury has damaged his brain doing drugs. There is no other explanation for the lunacy you see in those Youtube clips. I think his NBA career may be over. He just doesn't appear to me to have a full deck.

I am not trying to be funny. He is acting too wierd and has been acting this way for some time. I really think he's got some kind of brain damage or at least some cognitive disorder. He's just not normal.

i would LOVE stephon marbury just because it'd be GREAT to have him as a rocket. yea he's a team cancer, but he would work out on this team. seriously. i'm all for this move since it would defintely get rid of francis.

actually there is no chance in getting marbury. Despite the positives I've said about him I mentioned that I'd only want him if he signed for a very small contract, ie veterans minimum--which means there is 0% chance marbury will take that offer
