to be fair, he is a very good post defender, sometimes superb in fact.

it's when he has to guard big guys who can play outside that he can be problematic. but his rebounding can def. be better.

In the Boston game, everybody was playing suffocating defense and in the Sixers game the complete opposite. Defense would be great if its team effort. No player in the NBA can play 1 on 5 with any success.

I will say this.. He's a good defender against Shaq.....

But he has a very difficult time against guys who are quicker and shoot from the outside and also against the pick & role and guards who drive to the goal.

DD is unintentionally hilarious... I swear he believes everything, and then some. So many ridiculous conspiracy theories and whatnot.

i just hate it when yao's guy has made 2-3 jumpers in a row and he still doesn't go out and contest them.

I really see no problem with what Rafer Alston is saying here.

Alston's saying that because of McGrady's injury, the team isn't playing quick and efficient when McGrady's in the game right now. So instead of trying to "flat-out score" (ie. dominate the ball) he needs to integrate himself to the offense better, utilize other players more.

Pretty reasonable and constructive comment about the team, if you ask me. Some may argue whether Alston has the right to say it given his own struggles, but that's another story.

And it's a lot different from Artest's "Sometimes Tracy thinks his talent is going to take him. He can just cruise his way" comment after the Celtics game. Alston's doesn't feel like an accusation or a personal attack to me.

I take it you never saw Mark Eaton play????

He wasn't the fast person in the world and he dang sure wasn't soft....

What he did have (ala Yao) was height.. and he used every bit of it to his advantage... Hell even Manute Bol had block parties and I know Yao has more talent than both of those guys...

But he has stand strong and stop being so damn timid.....

This wasnt directed at me, but I get annoyed alot with the seemingly butterfingers Yao has, and not just on his offensive moves, he gets fouled alot with no call.

Its losing the ball on rebounds that really irks me. Even if his hands are small for a guy 7 foot 6, they should still be big enough to hang on to the ball. Also, when he goes up with nobody in front of him 3 feet from teh rim and kinda tosses it in the rim instead of dunking it annoys me as well.

Not sure if thats being soft, but its not being aggressive.

I think he needs to stick those elbows out more and that will keep guys from reaching at him on those rebounds.
