You do know he once led the NBA in assists, right? He just doesn't fit in Philly.

the andre miller idea was actually posted in a previous thread. it's freakin hilarious how some people on here think that rafer is ridiculously good for some reason and that for some reason why we have to have a PG that can shoot the 3 real well. andre miller is worlds better than rafer, no, he doesnt shoot the 3 well but he also doesnt take that many at all. his game is the mid range jumper and penetration. bibby didnt shoot that many 3's also when RA was there, most of his shots came off that high pick on the elbow or cutting to the basket. those 2 things rafer cant do, have never done it, and will never be able to do it. you guys see tony parker shooting alot of 3's when duncan gets double teamed? no, he pops that mid range jumper or takes it to the hole if players charge at him quick. everyone is all caught up thinking that we always need a 3 point shooter because that is the only thing that rafer can do fairly decent, imagine if we had a pg that could take 2 steps in and make it 40-45% of the time. wouldnt that be great?

Last year before the trade he was at 9APG, then 2 years ago he was over 8APG.

Bottom line is the guy can pass the ball better than any of our PG's.

Just why do we need another washed up PG when we already got Stevie?

And at 10 mil per year, I think I'll pass on this upgrade.

    - Andre Miller last year:
At twice the cost, I like him but no thanks

    - Steve Francis last year:
An unhealthy Francis last year on a dysfunctional Knicks team was close to to Andre Miller level (per 48 minutes).

Its about how the skill set fits the team and not about the stats of course. And his skills are better than Rafer's and Head's. In fact if he were a Rocket he'd be the best pure point guard they've had in while. Eh, I guess I wouldnt be too upset with him on the team. Miller for 2 years 20 million or Rafer 3 years 15 million, might have to go with the prior.

    in this case it does
ownage of Mavs is always nice to see around here

I have wanted Andre Miller on the Rockets for a long time, I believe I had a discussion with some ClutchFans as to whether Miller was better than Francis.

Yep - my initial trade Francis for Miller post

LOL - in search I found this thread about Steve Nash, LONG before he was any great player

More people saying Francis was better than Nash - they never learn.

I still think Miller is a better PG......maybe not as a dynamic scorer, but as a PG, the guy is clearly a stud.

A guy that can hit the open man, work the small pockets for mid range shots would be PERFECT for this team.

I would give up Luther, Snyder, Bonzi, James, Rafer, Novak.......any combination of any of those players to get him.

And only one more year on his contract....oh man...get r done Morey.

Call me shallow, but I would trade for Andre Miller for only 2 reasons.

    1) To get rid of Rafer Alston.

    2) To make space for us to get Mike Harris back :D

Two EXCELLENT reasons...toss in Bonzi...Harris is a younger version of him anyway.

A little excerpt I found amusing from the Steve vs Nash thread
The Mavs being as good without Nash he was correct, the Mavs were BETTER recordwise without him. Also ironic how Rafer was thrown in as an "out of ALL people" to enter the discussion scrub reference yet here he is, permanent fixture in the starting lineup and ahead of the supposed Franchise on the same team.

Nash's work speaks for itself now, but plenty people are still hypocrites in here about Francis. I wasnt a member yet in 2002 but for years before I joined I'd cooonstantly read posts how Francis needed to STEP UP his scoring and SHOOT MORE SHOTS for the team! Smarter fans knew he needed to develop his role as point guard facilitator but MOST, not fewer, preferred seeing Francis' scoring in the 26-27 points a game Kobe Bryant range. Yet its some of the SAME people now who cite the "book" on Steve saying how he's not a "true" point guard, he's slow passing and turns it over too much - ah shut up, people.

I'll say I hate when people constantly pile criticisms on one person and then open the bandwagon for others to follow. And I equally hate when people constantly toot their own horns with I-told-you-so's.
Credit will go here for the foresight to see Nash was better than he appeared and Francis was worse than he appeared.

But me, I'd still go Francis over Andre Miller most any day ;)

    actually this is even better

dang........ back then, even I would have chosen Francis.

    :(

Heck, back then I would have picked Francis over Baron Davis, Elton Brand, or Shawn Marion.

Way too early to think about trades.

The only big news here is Iguodala possibly leaving the 76ers after the season. I really don't care about this attitude/body language issue. That's what happens when your team sucks and you're frustrated.

Put him on a team already with two superstars, and watch a huge smile grow on his face. Even before I heard about this, I wanted to sign AI in the offseason. I wouldn't trade for him though because of the fact that he is a free agent next year.

He obviously wouldn't have to carry the team if he was on the Rockets. His role would be an explosive secondary scorer next to T-Mac. He has the athleticism to do what we want T-Mac to do all the time, which is to penetrate. That's just one more weapon we could use.

    Yao
    Scola
    T-Mac
    Iguodala
    Alston

Rafer would be taking 3 shots a game maximum! :D

    Oh, stop, you're just jealous.

    ;)

It is tough to be the first one to the party all the time, but someone has to spike the punch.

I wouldn't do it unless Miller signed an extension, but Rafer, Brooks, and Bonzi for Andre works. Philly can add Brooks to their rebuilding plan. Get it done, Morey! Houston can resign Mike Harris.

I would not give up Brooks in the package for a 31-year-old PG. Miller would clearly be our best PG and I like the idea of getting him but Brooks is young and has a lot of potential.

The players we should be willing to move are Head, Novak, Snyder, Hayes, Landry, Alston and future draft picks. If they aren't interested in any combination of those offers, then fuhget about it.

You've got to give up value (or potential) to get back value. If you can give up an exciting 5'9" young scoring PG and get a reliable 6'2" pass-first PG, you do it every time.

Miller would be cool to get. He's averaged over 10 assists for a couple of seasons. He isn't a penetrating point, though. It'd be like having Alston with more assists and better FG%. We should instead try to go for Jose Calderon. He had like 19 points, 14 assists last night. He's only had like 1 turnover the last 3 games.
