Fertitta can't afford the rockets or the astros and he is a huge jerk...Mattress Mac could though, he built the westside tennis club for the rox...he might be a good owner.
yeah your right, so how did he pull off buying the Golden Nugget casino in Las Vegas last year for $325 million. He added that to Landry's Corp. that already had $1.3 billion in assets at the end of 2004. Come on, he can't afford it
As stated earlier, MJ is known to want to own. Not buy, not pay. Just get. His executive experience is (ahem) underwhelming. (And didn't Chuckles back out of a minority sateke in the Suns?) PS In terms of cred, Mitch Lawrence exceeds only Sam Smith.
Per Yetti: "What an obscene way to describe fish, especially when fish is a biblical food! How many Landry's Restaurants have you dined at?" Sorry Yetti- I was out line. I have had 2 bad experiences at Joe's Crab Shack. Partially frozen fried shrimp, and lumpy cocktail sauce. My nephew loves to eat there-I try to keep it simple with a salad. The Landry's chain ruined Cadillac bar IMHO. Landry's aquisition of the Grotto and La Griglia have been successful though- Landry's did not change anything. I eat a La Griglia at least once a month. I should not have lumped all Landry's into one category as bad as Joe's Crab shack. The Landry's seafood restaurant blows as well-IMHO. My bad. Landry's no doubt has the resources to buy the Rockets, I am concerned abouth their meddling in the franchise. An earlier poster noted that Landry's was interested in the Astros and Not hte Rockets. I hope that is true, but I am sure Tilman Fertitta was an officer or on the board of Rockets ownership. Probably not a small minority owner, just a position on the board.
I'm sure Landry's Corp won't buy a sports team, it's not really in their market. Fertitta, individually, can't really afford to pay what Les would ask for the rox...
Hey, don't get me started of the "Disneyfication" of Galveston and Kemah by this guy. When he bought Pier 19, and replaced it with a Joe's Got the Crabs Shack, it broke my heart. Guess this is the wrong forum for comments like that. Let's just say that I hope the dude doesn't buy it.
