He played well last year up until his injry. Anyone remember when the 7-3 jets whipped the undefeated Titans and looked like the best team in the NFL for a moment? Then Favre tore his bicep and things went down hill. If he is healthy again, with Bernard Berrian, Adrian Petersen and that awesome offensive line in Minnesota..... well? I say the sky is the limit and he'd be a fool to not come back and give it another shot.

I think many many people forget how close the Jets were to being one of the best teams in the NFL last year thanks to Favre. His injury killed them. The guy can still play.

Favre looked bad the last two months of the year because he went back to "I'm Brett Favre, and I'm just going to sling the ball wherever I see fit"

His biceps weren't the cause for his shoddy decisions on the field.

Report: Favre to meet with Vikings coach Childress

MINNEAPOLIS (AP)—ESPN is reporting that retired quarterback Brett Favre is scheduled to meet with Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress about a possible comeback.

The report Tuesday cited an anonymous source. It said Favre and Childress will meet at an undisclosed location later in the week. The longtime Packers quarterback retired for the second time after spending last season with the New York Jets. Both he and his agent, Bus Cook, said previously this spring that Favre intended to stay retired.

Cook did not immediately return a phone call to his Mississippi office.

Vikings spokesman Bob Hagan also did not immediately return a phone call.

Childress said last weekend that the Vikings would discuss Favre’s availability after he was granted his release by the Jets.

The bicep in his throwing arm was torn -- of course that made a difference.

I don't get it, man...you'd rather see Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels start for the Vikings? I'm no Vikings fan, but Favre starting would definitely make for more interesting football.

Word to that :p 2 years ago Favre was the 2nd or 3rd best candidate for MVP. Let the guy play already. Who cares if he changes his mind? Just turn the channel of ESPN when they start going berserk over him. The only people acting more girly about the Favre mood swing situations are the fans who feel like Favre owes it to someone to be resolute in a decision. Get off the mans ass he can do whatever he wants to do and he shouldn't care about you guys crying.

    Just retire already?
Just stop caring what he does already.

Favre haters are cracking me. Realizing how wrong they were, the only thing they can do is pull the "wait til December" card. As if his hot start/rapid decline last year defines his entire career and sets the table for what we should expect this year.

I hope that crow tastes good.

Dude. It was one hail mary. Even Favre himself said it wasn't really a big deal, but that the catch was amazing.

How does this redeem anything or make anyone look bad?

I don't care about Favre or the Vikings in either way, but to make this into some earth shattering event is asinine.

Can you actually quote an example of someone or something you're saying is wrong? You sound like you're arguing against thin air.

Yeah people are bumping this thread like the general consensus was Favre was completely washed up and couldn't play any more.

Maybe you missed the 'Favre: Decision' thread where it was a continuous onslaught of people calling him washed up, saying he can't stay healthy, saying he's not worth it, agreeing that the Vikings are better off with Tarvaris Jackson, etc.

Now that the "he's not worth it, he's washed up, they're better off with Canadian Football League level QB's" argument is becoming weaker by the day it seems (judging by the responses in the Week 3 thread) that their criticisms are now shifting towards either his supposed inability to stay healthy, his inability to maintain this level of play or both. In other words: they're reaching.

Again, can you actually provide those comments, or a link? I read that thread, and I didn't see numerous people saying the Vikings were better with Tavaris Jackson. I saw people questioning whether he was as good as others made him out to be and whether he could make it through the season healthy.

Also, in other words, they're reaching? In three of his last four seasons, Favre has thrown as many or more interceptions than touchdowns. In three of his last four seasons, he's had a QB rating of 81 or lower, two of 72 or lower. In three of his last four seasons, he's missed the playoffs. In at least two of those seasons, he had significant injury concerns going down the stretch that may have impacted his performance. In three of his last four seasons, it would be nearly impossible to argue that Brett Favre was anything more than mediocre at best, in the context of a starting NFL QB. Is he off to a good start this year? Yes, but this is common for him. Whether he can sustain that level of play and stay healthy is the primary question. He hasn't in three of the past four years, so how you consider it a "reach" or weaker by the day I'd love to hear you explain.

Does that mean I think he's worse than Tavaris Jackson, or that I don't think he's worth it for them? No. I still think he's capable of being a good quarterback, especially given the Minnesota running game and line play, which is an ideal situation. I simply don't think he's in that upper tier, and in three of the past four years, he hasn't been. I expect his arm to break down somewhat as he gets to the second half of the season, which in multiple years of late, it has.

If you don't think either of those statements is reasonable, please explain why. Because by and large, I haven't seen Favre haters. I've seen realists, making pretty similar arguments to the ones I made above. But his fans immediately put up blinders to anything at all negative about their hero, and build a strawman to an extreme extent that doesn't represent what people were saying. And if people were indeed saying those things, quote some of them.
