True, but essense of the point still stands, the Rockets can offer Denver not only a pick, but also other stuff (like salary relief) in exchange for routing Randolph to Houston.

Frankly, I would probably prefer having Gallo (and would be willing to give up more for him, like Budinger + absorbing Birdman's money + 2 picks, than for AR), but probably so would Denver.

hey...just curious.....what happens if the Knicks pick next year is in the top 5? Do we lose out altogether on swapping or does it just get pushed to another year?

Same question on if the Knicks get the top pick in 2012....what heppens? Do we get hosed completely?

The Rockets' right to swap picks with the Knicks in 2011 is top 1 protected, but I believe if they happen to end up with the first pick, it carrys on the next few years through 2nd round picks. I believe the 2011 draft is the only draft where we can swap firsts with them.

The 2012 Knicks' pick which we own out right is top 5 protected. If that ends up being in the top 5, then we acquire their 2013 pick also top 5 protected and so on until we actually get a pick. I may be mixing things up from what I remember hearing about the picks situation though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it gets postponed each year for like a five year limit, then we settle for two 2nd round draft picks.

For the 2011 swap, it' protected only for #1, not tope 5. So if NY gets anything other than #1, the Rockets gets the better pick between the NYK pick and the HOU pick. If Knicks get #1 pick, the Rockets and Knicks each keep their own pick and nothing else happens.

For the 2012 pick, I believe that if it's top 5, the Rockets get the 2013 pick with the same top 5 protection, so if the Knicks are in the top 5 again, the Rockets get their pick next year. This goes on for a few years (don't remember which year it ends), but if Knicks getting top 5 year after year (unlikely), the Rockets eventually end up with 2 2nd rounders from NY.

If we were to somehow get Randolph, these picks that everybody is worried about, won't even be remembered.

Anyone know if the 2011 draft is suppose to be deep or not?

Here's the latest from my guy up north....

CAA is all but promising Melo that they can get CP3 to NJ but Melo aint biting yet. CAA wants Melo in NJ for some reason...badly. If Melo holds firm, the Knicks are basically holding the cards and according to my guy, Morey is waiting to pounce and use those picks to take what he wants from NY (i.e. Randolph)

Melo does NOT want NJ as of this 10 seconds. He said he would prefer to play w Amare than Lopez. He is worried that NJ will become Denver of the east if he goes there....and this is all basically why Woj is reporting something bigger may be going down

So, after rooting against the Knicks the past few weeks, we are now suppose to root FOR the Knicks getting Melo? Haha... this is just great soap opera entertainment for the offseason.

Wish games would start already, though. Seems we've been stuck in the GM screen in the Association Mode of this game forever.

wait....here's more.....Morey is also ready to step in and tae Charlottes place in the deal if they bail out (Char has a tendency to bail out when it comes to paying guys and Harris is owed 27 mill over next 3 yrs)...not necessarily taking Harris, but being one if the teams in the deal and bringing the picks to the table

Its a fairly hollow promise isnt it? Has anyone even asked CP3 if he wants to play with Melo in NJ? This reeks of desperation.

IF NY picks are included in a deal, any deal, then all bets are off re: worrying about the Knuckleheadbockers.

Chad 'Edsel' Ford is reporting that the draft is a crap shoot due to CBA concerns.

Also apparently being discussed (but nothing close yet obviously) is NJ is talking to Char about a Lopez for CP3 deal with Okafor coming back to NJ....so while NJ aint dead yet, Melo doesnt look like he is goin there at the moment

From the projected players to come out, there's a couple at the top(Jones, Barnes, Vesely, etc.) that could become something special. But in terms of overall depth, it doesn't project to be very good.

Wouldnt much get answered if Melo just picked up the phone and asked him? Or is that too obvious?

Or maybe, the medias perception of CP3 in Melo's thinking is way off. Perhaps building Trifecta-2 isnt Melo's motivation at all.
