He's probably a PF now due to his increased bulk... but in the past he has been pushed around at the 4. If he can get a little stronger, he can probably be a power forward.

From what little I've seen of him, AR could be a very skilled 3 or 4. Has a very high ceiling, if he matures. I'd love to see him grow in a Rockets uniform. (No homo, to all you wags out there!)

It would cost us at least the 2012 pick because they need a pick to trade and they can't trade the 2011 pick if we cancelled the pick swap because we own their 2012. I'd give them their 2012 pick back because after the get Melo they most like will go after Paul ASAP. That pick won't be worth much if that happens and may be a worse pick than the Rockets 2012 given the uncertainty.

And I'd be willing to even give them their 2011 pick swap option back in addition if I had to because Melo and Amare in the east might actually have as good or better record than the limping Rockets making it worthless.

Take the bird in the hand by taking Randolph. I doubt you could do better by keeping the pick and pick swap option if the trade with NY goes down. You'd still end up with Randolph, Martin, Hill and Jeffries for Landry and a busted McGrady which is a good trade even in hindsight.

I've been telling people if NY wants their picks back so bad I'd give them both back for Gallinari.

    Gallinari/Budinger is a solid 1 2 punch at SF.

I don't want Randolph due to his attitude, the fact that I don't want to help Melo go to the Knicks if we still hold one of the picks and I don't think Randolph is worth both picks.

Just to be clear - we don't have 2 Knick picks. We have a pick swap option in 2011 which if the Knicks get Melo and given the Rockets uncertainty, there is a very good chance that it is worthless if they have a better record than we do.

And the 2012 pick will most likely be in the 20s given the path NY is taking if that trade goes down.

Huh? Smith is more of a SF than PF. I agree Randolph is more of a PF, but the Smith comparison goes against that.

QUOTE=abc2007]Because Randolph is in his contract year. He will go after a big contract next summer. The nuggets are in rebuild mode. They don't need him this year. Do the rockets need him just for one season?[/QUOTE]

Doesnt make sense to give up a first rounder for a one year rental...if we trade for him it's likely to flip him for someone else, not sure if we have the money to sign him this offseason to a big deal.

Oh, I know that I just figured people would understand what I mean. I mean, I'm not typing out that explanation every time I talk about the two picks in question.

I think he can especially with the second unit that likes to run. I was wanting the rockets to get him awhile back when Don Nelson put him on his bad list.

I think I would rather Melo end up with NJ.

I think Knicks as is right now are a lottery team that will get the 6-9th pick. I think that if the Melo possibility goes away, it really locks them into sucking in 2012 as well (because most of their options have gone away.).

If we flipped the 2012 pick for Randolph (and the Knicks get Melo) Then we are giving away the 2012 pick and moving the 2011 swap probably into the late teens or twenties.

I would rather pick in the mid/late lotto the next two years. Randolph won't put us over the top.

I don't see Morey trading away a potential lottery pick just to get another project, especially when we already have young players at those positions.

If a trade involving the Rockets and Knicks goes down, I highly doubt we'd get both Gallinari and Ant. If NY is trading them both it would be more likely that one of them is traded to Denver.

Also, I see Jordan Hill as the odd man out if this were to happen. I think he would also be included in the trade to Denver.

Randolph has played at the 3 before and he is more improved over last year. That would probably have Hill(if he isn't moved) play at center or possibly have Battier play some at the 2.
Either way having Randolph would be more of a positive than a negative.

Randolph is not considered a project anymore. He is a bonafide threat. He is younger than Hill and has 3 more years of experience. Besides, getting Randolph would make up for the loss of Ariza and we would still have the assets to make another trade possibly for Iggy.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, especially in the heat of the moment. From what others have posted on the board, he has the reputation of having a bad attitude. That being said, the one he was staring down was our very own Yao Ming and then later Randolph got balled up. That was Randolph's rookie year, if I'm not mistaken, so he still has a long way to go. He has upside which inherently means he's not fulfilling his potential yet. Either way, the man has talent.

I'm all for this trade if it gets us Gallinari.

Jeffries + picks for Gallinari. I believe he is better than anything we will get in the draft and we would still have our own picks. The guy would add more height to our team. A 6'11" SF is not a common occurrence.

Plus, didn't Ya teach him a lesson that game and ended up staring him down? They would probably both have a good laugh over that if he came here. I hope  .
